Hasse Schiffsmodellbau - anyone have experience?
« on: November 11, 2010, 02:15:48 pm »

To All,

Does anyone have any experience - good or bad - with the quality of product from Hasse Schiffsmodellbau in Germany? I know that the molds originally came from a company named Schaffer some time ago.

Thanks for your time,

Dan

Very high quality and scale details, plus they have the Type XIc boat.
Here are some images. I do not have XIc images.

John

I don't know if this is of any relevance today but 20 odd years ago I made the mistake of building a schafer type VII for someone and it was a real ball ache. The moulding were monstrously thick and the whole thing weighed a ton, it took me weeks to thin the thing down. It was a VERY detailed model of U995 but while the external finish was good the standard of GRP layup was very poor and upto 1" thick in places. Its a case of buyer beware.

1" thick!!!!! I think the laminator must have had too much polyester fumes!
