Don't suspect it will be a great seller at that price ... has anyone seen one?

The new kit version is a whole different beast from the old 80s issue. Laser cut parts, etch brass detailing, NOT needing the old reduction drive motor system (!), nice bit of kit for the money :-)) , RTR version? Depends on what radio it is fitted with really...

Still not worth 230.00

I am no fan of RTR, but the kit comes in at 85 or thereabouts, and that aint too bad for what is in the box. The little fishing boat is similar quality without the etch brass bits.
Just received the new version of the little Krabbe 12 at work, nice bit of kit, decent quality instructions, fittings, laser cut parts, servo, motor and Chinese packing list (NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo!!!!!!!), oh well, can't complain :}

Still not worth 230.00

And how many beers or bottles of wine could one get for 230.00p?........140, perhaps

How long would they take to drink, or perhaps 5 visits to a nice restaurant......how long would that pleasure last.

Equate that to the amount of hours a model like that could give you on a warm sunny day with chums at the lakeside..........

No comparison really, and I personally think its a nice little model for that price, and a lasting pleasure as long as you don't sink it, lol.

RTR boats encourage new people into our hobby, so excellent. Once you get new people out to the lake. You can then help and encourage them to go down the kit build route.
Also 130 which is the difference between the kit and RTR. Which will be less once you add in the cost of paint, resins and energy. Not much difference at all.

I agree, our hobby is getting thin on the ground with newcomers, a lot of people dont have the skills or time to build a model, look at model flying, probably 50% are RTF

Hi ya, Rare vintage plans of a model paddle tug - it came free with Model Boats magazine %) %)

The ebayer also has a hull for this plan; and it does look like a good purchase - but the plans - would definitely need thinking about :-)

i'm sure that the designer Mr Andrews and the builders at Harland and Wolff would have loved to have seen 105 years on, their 3 ships of note being described as a Speedboat-Rowing-Boat, lol. do some people actually know the blunt end from the pointy bit on a boat.........oooops, sorry!!!!.........ship.

They probably think that it gives more confidence to the buyer than saying it is a British ship which sunk on its maiden voyage.   :-)

I think he is charging, labour as well as the cost of the extras he has fitted. 500 - 600 for the kit and components, 10 per hour for construction!!!!

And what's wrong with that prey. You do, or perhaps did, charge for your labour don't/didn't you?

If he can get it good luck to him; I doubt if he will though as model boaters in general are some of the most tight fisted people I have ever experienced.
