Queen Mary 2
« on: May 06, 2011, 08:39:24 am »

Hi

Thought I would post some pictures of progress of construction of QM2 at 1:150 scale, Turning out to be quite a large model!

Pictures of plug construction below.

Hoping to use scale azipod propulsion.

Would be interested to hear from anyone considering building QM2 or has looked at working azipods.

Plug made from hardboard filed with polystyrene.

Last Photo: Revell 1;400 model for scale!

John

How good are you at making trailers!

Started on superstucture front which will be moulded as an integral part of the hull mould.

With all rain recently had to find some indoors work!

Plug construction for pods, mould will be taken in order to make 4 identical pods. These will be equiped with 20mm inrunner motors with an aircraft prop adaptor connecting motor to prop. The adapter with run through a small o ring to provide some level of protection against water ingress. End plug will be removeable for drainage and maintenance purposes

Plug made from Alloy tube wood and body filler.

Plug half submerged in Playdough in order to take first mould half

Have made some progress with hull plug, as well as having refined shape of hull, I have now added superstucture front, and sides towards the stern which will form superstructure sides rear deck tiering and wind breaks.

Hope to be in a position to take a mould from the plug within next month.

Thanks John, hope my plans for the internals and steering gear work. Obviously as per original, the front pods are fixed and the plan is the rear will have 180 degrees rotation. Like the full size will make all of them interchangeable.

Can you run more than 1sensorless type of brushless motor from 1speed controller?
