One of my favourite weekends of the year is nearly here.
On the 23rd and 24th of this month I'll be at the International Model Lifeboat Rally at the Etherow Country Park, Compstall, Stockport SK6 5JD.
Hopefully enjoying good weather like last year (almost too hot on the Sunday!).
General sailing on the Saturday but Sunday is dedicated to lifeboats of all types and assorted nationalities. It will be a pleasure be there and meet the many friends I've made through this hobby and hopefully meet a few more like minded enthusiasts. It's a lovely spot for sailing and admiring the many dozens of models on display. This is the show any lifeboat modeller or just boat modeller should attend. It's the premier lifeboat and RNLI show established in Southport in 1984 and now taken over by the Etherow Model Boat Club. Needless to say all proceeds go towards the RNLI. If my memory serves me correctly, such was the support and success of this show in the past they succeeded in raising enough money to buy not just one but two D class inflatable lifeboats - Modeller 1 and Modeller 2.
I'll be having my new model there and it looks as if Neil (nhp651) is going to be there with his three new offerings. It will be worth visiting just to see his lifeboats completed "in the flesh".
Looking forward to the whole thing and enjoying the weekend.
Hope to see you there.
