ALFOLD CHARITY MODEL BOAT SHOW 2012
« on: June 23, 2011, 11:07:20 AM »

After another successful event for 2011 a provisional date has been set for 2012. So as not to clash with the Mayhem event which Martin has already announced as the first weekend in June (the traditional weekend for Alfold) the show will almost certainly be on 9th/10th June 2012. Reverting back to the first weekend of June in 2013. This is because of the change of date for the Bank Holiday and Diamond Jubilee next year. Look out for more details in the future as I will be handing the administration of the show over soon to the fundraising committee of the Society for which the money is raised.
Thank you all for your support over the past 15 years.
Alan

Hi All

Just to confirm that I am attempting to step into Alan's shoes and organise the event for 2012. I will soon have all the relevant paperwork and would invite all interested parties to PM me with their details so I can send them booking forms etc.

Many of you will be aware that Alan kindly organised this event on behalf of the charity I represent, raising over £34,000 in the 15 years that he ran it and we are extremely grateful. Out of respect to Alan and his family, who have supported him all the way, we wish to continue with his legacy, so your support, advice and guidance will be very much appreciated.

Here's to what I trust will be a successful 2012 event.

Regards

Trevor

It's a shame that this clashes with the CADMA Show in Doncaster, as several traders who might otherwise have attended will already have committed themselves to CADMA (like we have). Good luck to all concerned and I hope the weather is better for you than it has been for Mayhem!

Mmmmmmm I reckon that's going to be a hard act to follow, obviously Alan has been blessed owing to his Samaritan like personality, I am afraid I may not live up to that  ;)

I am back on line  :}

Interest in the show is building, but still need more exhibitor entries.

All man power in place, so it is a case of simply asking for a form, booking, arriving and relax, whilst enjoying a chilled weekend on the water.

There are on site facilities to make the stay more pleasant, one is called the bar  %), the others are cloakrooms and showers.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Less than two weeks away before the show and bookings going well, and I think I have managed to cover most things. Should there be any late comers it is not a problem as long as I get a booking form, a pass will either be sent out or arrangements will be made for collection on arrival.

Hopefully the weather will be kind as there are plenty of different clubs being represented this year.

Thanks to all of you who are supporting this event this year.

The very few trade that would have booked into Alfold but have decided to go to the new show at Doncaster do not regularly attend the Alfold Show.
The Alfold Show core Trade are dedicated to that show for many reasons not least that it is a Charity Show 100%. It is local to most of the mixture of trade that attend it and it above all - it is the most friendliest show in the calender. Everybody enjoys the weekend away with no hassle, just sun, a huge Barby on the Saturday at the house and friendly people. It is a tribute to the people who put this show on including the bloke in pyjamas. Thank you Alan for the years that you have put this show on.
We as Trade travel around the country attending shows, most are hard work.
The Alfold Show has something that all of the other shows lack - dedicated people who go that extra mile. They hold your hand and show you where your pitch is when you get there and they wave you good bye when you leave!

It is good to see that I am not the only person who thinks of this show as being a good'n. Thankyou for your comments, sometimes we need happiness in our lives.

As for the coffee Mr H, that will be no problem so long as the criteria is met - O0
Reliant three wheeler containing submarine x several :-), plus bags x several ok2, plus an oddish man dressed in an odd way with hat and dark glasses and roll up fag x one %%, plus car space x none left.  %% followed by that wild call from the depths of Dartford of time now long gone - "Oy! Sheppard, get that bl.....dy kettle on I'm gasping"
Mr S.
p.s we are a sugar free zone.

Mark.

You are quite right Mark, you can turn up on Friday morning, in fact a few are arriving on Thursday night to ensure they are ready to help set up.

In regards to the set up, we at Springbok will provide the vehicles etc, to transport the tables etc. What we do need is the expertise of those who have set up before as we really do not know how best to do it.

Finally thank you to all who have posted such positive feedback regarding the show  :-)), Alan has done a great job over the years and I truley hope I have been able to fill at least one of his shoes.

See you all next week.

Wot...no sugar, Mr S?  <:(

Would this be the oddish man you refer to, chap?

Not too sure about the infamous Wee Threeler though...I guess it's long gone by now. He used to frighten the life (and other things) out of me in that thing...it only had two speeds, fast and faster!

See you Sunday, Mr S...

Don't panic Air Ambulance based next door to the event field, so that base is covered.
