My First Tug
« on: May 02, 2006, 08:25:34 pm »

This is Coullies, a French Harbour Tug built because of a feature in MMI, the idea of the article was to get you to purchase the plans. All hail to the office photocopier......

I am looking to build another now I have been bitten by the Tug Bug, but it has got to be modern, big and ugly.

If you are wondering about the name. Coullies pronounced cooee is french for Bol****.

If anyone has any ideas for me let me know. I am always up for a chalenge.

I live (and play boats) in France.

As far as I am aware there is no such word in French as "Coullies". The nearest I can get is the verb "coulisser" which means "to slide, to run" so could be something like "Smooth Runner" or else the noun "couloir" which among other things, when used as "couiloir de navigation", means "shipping lane".

I like that nice one.

I must get a new French dictionary or sack my Seceratry........ She's French!

I had a look at Mobile Marine's web site. They have some nice stuff, does any one have experience with MMM, what's the quality like?

I usualy scratch build everything but I am tempted with their winches.

I like it.

It seems that the way to go is with Stearable Korts. I slashed out on a graupner Skotchell drive some years ago and found it second to none for manuvering.

Couple it with an 850 motor and you have an awsome power unit.
