Hey Phil,

Looks frigging awesome .
Bet Keith and Steve will be shocked at the actual size and the ballast required for trim.
Rung you before I left the country but kept getting your voicemail.

Will it be alright if I come down before I fly out again early January?

Btw, I drilled out the other 2 shaft positions. Like you said to Keith "don't know how you work without a Dremel".  Well I'm so thankful I have mine made easy work of the sanding and grinding .

Hope you,and the family have a great Xmas .

Cheers
Bill

Hi bill , I have a bit of a love / hate realationship with that phone, probably easyer to email or pm me.
How did you go with the position of the a frame supports for those shafts, I think that will be the next interesting job, did you get that deck cut out?
Just give us a yell when youre ready.
By the way, I found a bag of your fittings on the driveway the other day, I think they might be air vents of some kind.
Hope you also have a good christmas and get alot of boat related prezzies.

Hello

Very nice work with the hull but may I say it's the simplest part of the model ?

Finally back onto the abeille, here is the nozzle and its support in mdf ready for casting, and the beginnings of the master for the rudder.

Sorry for this out of subject comment but I was laughing so much with the Tassie48 "motto" never trust a captain that enjoys swimming

Have you nozzle pictures from other angles ?

Hi xtian, I will take a couple more pics for you, I have found it really difficult to get shape of the supports for the nozzles but think i'm close, there is no detail for theese on any plan so im working from your photos.

Hi Mermod
THX for "beeing your inspiration"  ok2  %)
This is a great hull!
A BIG one!
Thinking about my 1,6 m , your 1/40 must be a MONSTER !!!

As I can see, Xtian helped out with some pictures. Maybe I can help later with some details.

Todays job was fitting the bow and stern thruster tubes, found some fibreglass tube I bought from a scrap yard about 8 years ago that had the perfect internal diameter.

Hi Mermod

I just want to say I have been watching your build and enjoying it.
It was only when I saw the hull next to the wheelie bin that I
realised just how big it is. Brilliant - can't wait for more.

Thanks Dave, it's comments like yours that make the posts worthwhile, I'm still fairly new to the whole forum thing but its added a whole new dimension to my hobby, as for the size, the wife still thinks I'm mad but I cant wait to see four of them in the water.

Yep ............... and a case of wine is much nicer shared with friends  :-))

Plus all your hard work mightn't get the appreciation it deserves
otherwise. People see your finished product but not how you have
mastered techniques and found solutions. I'm learning from all the
builds ............ and from some of the arguements too - they provide
some options. Mayhem is generally a very friendly place to be. O0

Hello Mermod

Very good work as usual. You used teh same diameter for the bow and aft transverse thruster ?

Have you seen there is now Algerian navy sister ships !

Thanks for the comments Ian.
Xtian, would you believe we discussed the fact that the bow thruters were larger when the build started but I clearly got carried away and made them all the same size, thanks for picking up on that, it's now been fixed, only wish i'd read your post before glassing them in, oh well nothing an angle grinder won't fix.
I now tell people that my quality controll team is based in france, you should see the looks I get!
please dont ever hesitate to point out mistakes like that, thanks

Bilge keels cut from 1.5mm brass, no details for these on the plan so i've had to wing it using the photos from Xtian , I find that you can follow the weld lines on the full size hull to approximate where things should go, also does anyone know what the two openings are on the starboard side just above the fromt of the bilge keel ?

Hello

Quality Control ... ok it's fine for me and for this ship   {-)

The two grids just over the starboard bilge keel are for seawater inflow : some onboard users like fire fighting or fresh water producer.

Inside the hull there is a tranquilized box and the "users" pick a tubing on it  - you can see the size of the box with the air outlets and water oulets ( used when the ship is drydocked to remove the rest of water inside the box and then when the ship come back to water, the air come out from this box via the upper holes)

There is another seawater inlet on the starboard keel.

Hi Tassie48, you'll have to run your eye over it when you get down here, I'm casting multiples of everything so there will be plenty of bits.
Thanks Xtian for gettting back about the vents so quick, means I could get straight into it, using your photos I made a drawing in CAD then laser angraved the grate detail in some acrylic.

a bit more framing for the deck, probably overkill but considering the overall expected weight a bit of stiffnes won't hurt.

probably overkill

But it also looks so good - I like nice timberwork, and a smart interior.
