Hi Bob,

Its usually a good event. There will be other traders besides Deans. There is a good sized pool for you to run your boat. On Saturday evening there is a barbecue - bring your own food.
The venue is not far from the A1, but a little tricky to find - a Satnav certainly helps, otherwise look it up on Google Maps.! There will be some local signposting when you get near.
See you there on the Saturday I hope.

Thanks Barrie & Balloo:  I have since checked Deans site, and will send them an SAE as requested.  The good ol' TomTom will get me there on the Sunday (I work Fridays and Saturdays).  I wanted to check out a couple of their kits sometime, and this would be an ideal opportunity plus meeting other modellers with their ships.

Hi Paul
I think now it has the Honda 4 stroke engine fitted the noise level has gone well down to a purr. When you saw it at Wicky park it had that 2 stroke in it. Now it sounds OK, well anyway it dose not set the noise police here at Stevenage off into one.
I take it you will be there on Saturday? It will be good to see you there.

I aim to go up there Sunday morning, weather permitting, with my Deans Skirmisher.  I hope to be able to 'see inside the box' of their HMS Amazon and HMS Hannibal to asses whether my current building skills can do them justice.  Hopefully Amazon should be OK, but Hannibal may have to sit on my wish list until I gain more experience.  I have been out of this for forty years  :D
You never know I might come back with a start of a flotilla of 1895-1906 warships  {-)

I saw three ships ...
« Reply #22 on: September 11, 2011, 09:51:22 pm »

... at the Deans marine open day today. From left to right, "Niobe" (1898), "Pelorus" (1897) and "Skirmisher" (1905). Sincerest thanks to Ron and company for a lovely event. Bit windy, though!

... even though it looks as calm as a mill pond in your photo of our ships  ;)
Great day out.  Nice company.  Many beautiful models.  Well worth the 4 hour round trip.

Thank you Ron for your hospitality, and for having the time to let me see 'inside the box' of models I was interested in.
Having seen the detail quality of parts in these kits, and assessed my own abilities in doing them justice, I came home with a 1906 HMS Amazon to add to the flotilla.
