Finally, after about 3 years the Duke of York has seen the water. Dad and I took her out earlier today for a run to test the electronics, after modifying the transmitter to have three sticks (So both motors can be controlled independently). Unfortunately, it made little good and only ensured that neither of us could actually stop the motors running. Oh well, at least it runs!

For all that I usually poke fun at my dad's boats, I think it looked pretty good on the water.

There wasn't a problem with the motors as such, it was just that the speed controllers had no dead band between forward and reverse, so as soon as the power was switched on the motors ran and couldn't be stopped. (and he won't like to admit it but when we sent the boat out the first time he hadn't plugged one of the motors in!)

Yeah, yeah!  :embarrassed:

We did have independent control, but with the props up the tunnels, it just made damn all difference.

And as for steering astern.... {-)

Congratulations.
Good to see such a good model, and which was based at a CORNISH Station also.
Hoping that Lance will be kind enough to let me have the layout differences between her and A.L.R. please?
Cheers!

Brilliant model.
Has anyone done a thread on how to do the wheelhouse planking, that looks like a model in its own right.

I don't think anyone has done a thread dedicated to planking canopies, but seeing as I've almost finished the canopy on my Liverpool I'll see what I can do. Neil covered them pretty well in his thread, but dad and I use a different method.

If you could ask him to send me the few missing bits Neil That would be great as I think he gets too many email & finds it hard to keep up.He already knows what they are.The kit is quite brilliant by the way, first class quality all the way. Mick B.

Hi Andrew. I have recently restored an old glass plate negative of the Duke of York being pulled up (or down!) the slip at The Lizard and thought it might interest you. The image is low resolution, if you would like a high res copy you can email me on davemagneto@btinternet.com and I'll send you one. Please let me know if you see this post as the subject is not current. Regards, Dave.
