                           Just a thought

When you register and it won't accept you original name, try putting the number 2 next to it.

That way, we should know who was posting and it might make it easier to tie up the links.

Not a big deal, but when I tried to re-register with my original name of "BobK" it would not work, but registering with the 'new' name of "Bob K" (added space chr) it allowed me in.  Now "BobK" is only a guest, I can't log in as that because the email address is already in use by "Bob K".
Not a big deal.  Colleagues know who I am.  I can live with that, you guys have enough to do  O0

1. Have to had to reactivate notification of replies, previous notifications not working no doubt because I had to re-register, not really a problem.

2. Notification message is different and now receiving multiple, multiple, notifications.

Copies below, first is message from 'ye olde' forum, second is current. Maybe the missing line highlighted in bold type in message 1 about further notifications is producing multiple email notices.

It's tempting to wonder if those who couldn't use their original username didn't need to re-register.

(BobK no longer appears in the members list BTW)

Raaaaaaarty,

Isn't that how it's supposed to work {:-{

I usually get 1 notification per thread, so if I'm 'watching' 10 active threads, after 1 hour away I can have 10 notifications, (although if I don't read them there's still only 10 emails)

In your example you're showing 2 seperate threads, ergo you should get 2 notification emails :-))

AAAAHHHHHH!!! just re-read your post, and I think I see what your problem is,

If you go to your 'Profile', then select 'Notifications and Email' (under 'Modify Profile'), you'll see a line near the top on the right that says - 'Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply.'  make sure the box is ticked, (I think by default they're not)

Micky & Ian

Where have you been for the last week? %%

Poor Martin has been tearing his hair out trying to save all the data from the forum. He's been successful with the posted data but most of the login list has been lost so most of us have had to re-register - you are not alone! O0  There is a slight possibility that it might be retrieved (very slight!).

You'll just have to be patient!

Hello folks
Great to see the site up and running again thanks to all who have put their time and indeed knowledge in to getting it up and going again, I have managed to re-register again as advised good to be part of the Mayhem community again, one wee question when I logged in it said "time logged in 9mins" and there were no replies to my messages or posts etc, I presume this stuff was all lost when the site went down, no matter great to have it up and running again and thanks again to those with the knowledge and skill to get the site going again.
All the best, John.

Like so many others, I've had to re-register and can't retrieve my previous postings etc... >>:-(

However, it's great to be back up and running.  O0

I'm sure Martin & co will eventually be able to retrieve all previously entered information once things settle down again.  :-))

Until then, I'll settle for being a deckhand again  :embarrassed:

Ray.

I finally got reregistered after several tries over several days.  It would be helpful if the rules for passwords were spelled out, instead of having to guess how long it needs to be, and what letters are permissible or not, and any other rules.  And why is all the security necessary?  What needs to be so secret about a bunch of old farts talking about model boats?

One thing that's strange is that I can understand my profile being lost together with my posts.... but for some strange reason since I've re-registered my name again it has ascribed a post to me that I never made  {:-{  http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=30278.msg302945#msg302945      That may say more about the type of error that crept into the forum, apparently the database thinks I'm partially Vince !  :embarrassed:  ........................

After the meltdown, I had to re-register, and have now noticed that my post count is only 1,previously before the meltdown it was over 100, does this mean that i,ll have to have 25 posts before i can sell an item, {:-{
