hi, any 1 know were i can get sum thin fiberglass cloth? and has any1 used it and can recommend it?  got a hull made for a catamaran fishing boat and was wanting to fiberglass it for stength, has to b thin as the hull has round bilges and round bulbous bows

Fibreglass tissue is used extensively by aeromodellers so you should be able to get some from a model shop that supplies them. Failing that try googling 'fibreglass tissue'

I've used it on several boats with no problems and it does toughen a wooden hull up very well.

I got mine from Halfords but any car accessories shop usually sells it, bar that it might be worth trying Ebay...

Are you after cloth or tissue- they're different.

Also what type of resin are you using, polyester or epoxy?

no idea yet, just looking for ideas, never done fiberglaasing before but my girlfriends dad do`s it so was goin help me, hes never used the thin stuff either so ideas welcome

I have used the very thin 0.6oz and its fine they do have thicker stuff

Do not laugh but i have used chix cleaning cloth (a brand of dish washing cloth) sold on a roll 10 m long laid up a 1 mtr yacht with it made the frames double layer for the frames laided them up on a old glass door easy to peel of the frames cut to shape then glassed into place and two layers of chix ,one comment it looked like kevlar due to the small holes still sailing have even used wedding vale cloth as well worth a try yacht sails in Brisbane called CHUCKY tassie48

Off topic but as you are talking about using strange materials......
I have seen motorbike panels sprayed up as snakeskin by using fishnet stockings as a mask
made a very good job too.

I would just use glass tissue on that hull with polyester resin. I use CFS fibreglass supplies, good materials, and good prices. Tissue is very easy to apply, and will give you plenty of strength with the resin.
