Adrians Marine Figures
« on: July 13, 2012, 07:20:16 pm »

Just received in the post 3 ready painted 1/12th scale Lifeboat Crew Figures, from Adrian's Marine Figures, which I believe were George Turner Models?
I would like to say how good and lifelike these are,and the excellent quick service supplied by Adrian (& Sue!) Although some may think they are a little expensive,I find they are excellent value.Adrian also stocks unpainted figures,at half the price,so I may try those next. They certainly do bring my Mersey and Tyne Class to life. I hope Adrian wont mind be putting his contact details on here, for anyone who may be interested!   adrian@accidentandrisk.co.uk     or    Tel No 01604 846461

My poor quality photos do not really do justice to these fine models. Adrian also does Lifeboatmen from a different age, and many other models besides.

I tried clicking on the "figures" link in George's website but it didn't work (the other links did). Does Adrian have a website?

no fraid not! he seems to rely on word of mouth, and orders by telephone and e mail.He and his wife run a number of other businesses, and at present cant dedicate all their time to the figures. If you can get hold of them I repeat they are excellent figures.Adrian at Speedline Models also produces a similar set.

From an anatomical view point I must say the figures look slightly off the arms are too long and the eyes set too high on the head.
Then again with the life boat racing past at high speed who will notice? %%

Ya, you're right Mermod, guess we will have to find another supplier that doesn't have a problem selling to the rest of the world.

I have recently sold 3 packs of GT fishermen, 2 one here and one on ebay.... All of them went to Oz :)

So there is obviously some demand for them there

HOW MANY MORE TIMES!!!!.......Adrian and his wife have two full time jobs which take up their time....they attend all the shows that time permits and it is AT THE MOMENT  more of a hobby to mould and sell these figures....they do not advertise the business except by word of mouth and at shows.........and in time they will be able to gear themselves up to sell more widly........now stop whinging.

If they hadn't gone to great expense to buy the moulds and mouldings off george turner.....there wouldn't be any figures anywhere anyway.....they'd have been skipped..........so at least we as modellers have them.

If you have a friend in the UK then get him/her to buy them and then post to you..............simples. <*< <*< <*<

AIMED AT THE FEW, NOT THE MANY!!!!

Thanks to you both Mick & Neil for your support - I would just emphasise both Adrian and I have set this up purely as a hobby business and do both have other full time jobs.   We do love hearing from any of you.  I have just started to paint some of the figures - what fiddly job, but quite absorbing!  Don't know if I will be any good?!!  Sue

Not any more , you have to be sat on your emails and phone 24/7 and answer within 3 minutes or all hell lets loose..  :}

Have fun, At least you are not letting the figures fade away into another lost supplier.  :-))

Do you know what scales he does, and periods? Don't want to hassle on the phone if somebody here knows

Sue, you and Adrian keep up the good work.
As thelongbuild said, good to see them still available
I agree with Neil, and I'm sure people can find a way to obtain them, even overseas
cheers
