I folks new to the forum, so would like to to say hi, and also would really like some help
So I've made a bait boat and it's been doin the job ok, but I just want a little more out of it,
I'm currently running it on a 360 motor, 7.2v motor and mtronics viper 10, I'm going to upgrade the motor to a robbe 4105 drive system,
But Im struggling with the battery, what's the best voltage/ ampere? Should I use a lead acid or nimh? Thanks in advance,

Can You please post a pic of the boat Personally i dont think the Robbie one will do the job BUT if we can see a pic it would help immensly.

As regards to batts obviously a Minh pck is far pighter than a lead acid batt

Hi Dave,thanks for the reply, I don't currently have a pic, will get one the next few days, I just went abit more power out of it, but want the battery to last Aslong as possible

That power set up I personally think is more akin to a speedboat lets get a pic and we can advise you properly

Right then that looks like a copy of the braodlands Bait boat,if I am not Mistaken So we should be able to help you.

Motor Mabuchi 555 ACTion electronics
Prop Size 2 bade 50mm....Steves Model Boat Bits....MMB or any good Model shop
Universal Joint and Motor Mounting ....As above
Propshaft...............As Above
Batt Either 7.2 v or Higher,What you could do is Measure the amount of room you have got and contact Ian of Component shop and he can make a batt pack of whatever voltage you need.

As a matter of interest how long is it,the Broadlands were approx 36 ins long and they ran this combo but were only on a 6v batt and were patheticlly slow.Oh I forgot to add one thing ESC forget the Mtronics and Go ACTion the mtronics you have got will be to small for the new motor

I'd say it was about that Dave to be honest, I'm having that trouble with mine at the moment, I don't wont owt to fast just Somthing with abit more pulling power, and a really long battery life, thanks again Dave

Also what can I use to attach the lid to the base? It's made of fibreglass and I would like a really strong adhesive that's also waterproof and will have a decent finish to it, cheers

Another thing, just looked at the 555 motor, I don't know if iv read It right but it consumes 9 amp, will that last long even on a really good battery??

Right I think you have read it slightly wrong BUT I will stand corrected on that <what I think you have seen is the stall current .

Right then am I right in thinking you are having trouble keeping the lid on your boat,I used to have a Boradslands Boat does this one have a long cover on it practicallly full length from memory mine was held down with a velcro strip at either end,what you could do of course is to get some wing nuts and bolts and use them.Could you please post some pics of the Actual boat exteriro and interior shots of it

Right having seen the pics I will ask one important Question What is the propshaft made of as it looks to me that it is a plastic outer am I right ?? if so first job is to get rid of it and fit a Brass one ....same length as the original,The coupling will be Ok for any motor that you use.I would still go for the motor that I advised.Prop size also the same.

Is there some type of flexible connected from the motor to the shaft I could use, as I feel the motor is working, to turn the uv joint

I think this is your problem the SHAFT is flexing ...get rid of it put a proper prop shaft in it and then try it,obviously yoou will still need to use the universal joint,this is what everyone uses and they are made for the job
