I'll bet you feel good now. What an achievement. This is the feeling we all get when we have something to be proud of.   :-))

Cheers

Well pleased with myself, Ken...just finishing off installing the motor into the g'box, then that's that done. It drove me mad, those perishin' little E clips...they went everywhere!

Do you need any more  ??

A little tip with the motor.  It has a slot to adjust the pressure on the gearbox drive wheels. This is best adjusted when the battery is connected direct to the motor on the bench.  That way you can move it to adjust the noise level.  (which varies considerably !)  whilst it is running.

Watch your fingers as it can go out of control.   {-)

I don't think so, Ken...I only actually lost one and one snapped, so I think I'll have enough. If not, can I give you a shout?

I'll be giving the motor a test run later this afternoon, I'll keep your idea in mind, that sounds a good way of doing it. I'll run it on a low voltage to start with, I have a 4.8volt battery pack which needs a charge, so it's probably only putting out about 3.5volts or so...the last thing I need is for the motor and gearbox to go charging off around the bench (been there...done that).

Now I've got the worst bit over, I'm back to contemplating a race truck lookalike....tried resisting it, but the lure of the race look is strong.

It's now got it's cases on, very well greased, and I'm just starting to install the gear selection rod.

And especially for IanPal...it's installed and working beautifully, no tightness in the axle at all.

Looking good Rich, pleased that tight spot has cleared itself.

So we are now back to the original race idea then are we  %%

You're really getting into this now, you'll be selling a sub or two soon to make room  {-)

I've already sold a sub, Ian...case of having to I'm afraid. Not for financial reasons, I needed the room badly.

I still can't really decide about the race truck, I have a trailer now, and it would be a shame to waste it...maybe next time I'll build the race truck. Hmm... %)

I picked up an almost new Bruder six axle low loader trailer for the princely sum of...wait for it...£20. I was well pleased with that, I'm going to do a few little things to it, like respray it, give it a touch of weathering here and there, add some hazard warning signs, and then make a load up for it. Something like a transformer I think...if I make it hollow inside, I can use the space for a battery to power the rear lights, beacons, etc.

It's the angle of the dangle that makes it look high. I hope...

I've been watching your bus build on the other forum, those seats look like fun to build...nice work, mate.

I've just bought a 1/12th scale Mardave V12 race truck kit, based on the V12 Club chassis, with a Merc race body. It's all your fault... %)

Your really getting into this trucking lark  {-)

Will that race merc fit on the low loader?

Keep going at this rate I can see another sub going  {:-{
Now there's an idea, You could take my Scania and I could have one of your sub's. but that wouldn't really help with the space would it {-)

As Ken said, Ian...it's addictive.

I'm hoping the race truck will sit on the lowloader, the plan is to spray the Volvo and the Merc in the same colour sceme...black with the graveyard scene from the album 'Black Sabbath' on both cabs, and signwritten 'Team Black Racing' on both. That's the plan anyway...

Do you fancy a sub then, Ian? Maybe we could do a deal....

Rich I was being cheeky about you running out of space pretty quickly.
But thinking about it I wouldn't mind one and the truck is just sat on the shelf and not moved for about a year.

What submarine was you thinking of letting go then?
Remember though you would have to talk me through it as I've never played with one before.

Team black racing sounds good, your be wanting the rigid Merc 1850 next for all the race gear, tyres etc. your soon have your very own race team  {-)

You know me mate, I don't go very far at all, any evening is good for me. I should warn you now though, that the two subs I have to part with are only part built. One is a dead easy finish, one is and has been a right *^£"! from the word go! It's driven me insane! The other one is a piece of cake to complete, the worst bits are done.

I leave it to you...

Ian...how do I get the lights/beacons to work, mate? I found out how to get the four way flashers working, got all the engine noises etc working, but I can't remember how you turned on the main lighting and the roof beacon....   <:(

Now you've got me, how did I turn them on?  {:-{

The beacons are wired via that Turnigy switch, when I used it with the Planet T7 it was just flicked on/off via one of the switches, which channel on the rx that switch is plugged  I cant think, If your using your T5 try connecting it to channel 5 on the receiver?

Now the headlights, you can turn them on off via transmitter But they will always run through a sequence, ie  head lights, main beam, roof and bumper lights, then off.
You can over ride this by pushing one of the tiny buttons on the control unit in the tank, one push for headlight, another for main beam and so on.

I think from memory it might be the one next to the volume control, but try each one  in turn until they come on.

Also try pushing something into the fifth wheel like a screwdriver, with the sound on your here a loud clunk and you will then get full power.
You can do away with that if you want by just connecting the two green wires together so you always get full power.
