That's not good news, just as I've started.    %)

I know....

The good thing is that I have only found one reference to them stopping and can't find anything to substantiate it, so here's hoping

Whats next for you?

Im considering either the globeliner or the aeromax next, but the wife says there has to be a considerable decrease in my unbuilt toys collection firtst :(

I fancy the scratch building trailer approach.  Unfortunately, the individual parts like axles and frames are not sold separately and the only way is to cannibalise a new trailer chassis. I am at present pricing them up from world wide sources.  Stella models still comes out in front with nicer prices but it's still a wrench.

I have sourced aluminium angle and nuts and bolts so that's no problem. I might build a car transporter or heavy tank carrier framework before thinking of the wheels.  I've even looked in toy shops and have a few ideas.  Watch this space, as they say.   %)

Earlier in this topic someone said about doing away with the necessity of hard wiring/plugs & sockets between tractor and trailer. :-)  There is a kit which does this via wireless but as with everything is quite expensive. :((

Yes, that's correct, it can be done this way. It's a very expensive hobby.

Last night I bought my second trailer kit and now have something to look forward too.  I'll update the blog as I progress.    :}

The new trailer kit has arrived and I built the whole thing in a day and a half.

It's a pole trailer and come complete with everything. Didn't have to scratch build at all and it was a pleasure to build.  My reason for getting it was to use the rear set of wheels for my new idea of scratch building a Car transporter.  It would appear to do the job as it separates from the pole and is a self contained section.

Here's a detailed shot of the wheels. Notice that they are fully sprung and beautifully engineered.

The most important factor you are looking for is the scale must be 1:14.

I was only looking at this model today on Ebay and decided it would need stripping for the realistic parts.  (and difficult to scratch build).  Gotta save a quid or two !!!  as Tamiya caters for the wannit all brigade.    %) %)   and individual parts are through the roof.

Hope this helps.

Those things are quite collectable now, as they were not too popular when released. It was based on a RC monster truck chassis and was 1:20 scale putting off the Scale "truckers" and the price put off the casual builder

They fetch a tidy sum these days

If you can get it for less than 200 then go for it

Sounds good.

We don't many meetings per year down this way.  The next one is next Sunday at Yate Centre Nr Bristol.  I shall trip along with my fleet and get some more ideas !! for the next one.

I haven't built anything lately, but I have collected angle aluminium for a project.

Thank you for showing us, Adam.  Quite a fleet you've got there. Very impressive.   :-))

I am at present scratch building another trailer in between finishing the boat. Quite busy in the workshops these days.   :}

I have just "stole" a Tamiya Globeliner kit on a Finnish auction site

Seller states its been sitting on a shelf for at least 10 years but the parts are still sealed and look OK
How much was this bargain? €50 plus another 20 for postage. Strangely the trailer he had listed (Tanker trailer) sold for over 400!

happy days!

Lucky or what. I'll bet your pleased.

The trailers are very high prices, that's why I'm having a go at making my own.   ;)

Why not go my route and get the cheapest one which is the Flat bed.  That way, you have the basic wheels and chassis assembly and the world is your oyster regarding the type of trailer you place on top.    :}

I have purchased extra wheels and tyres at great expense, I might add, with a view to making it up to a chassis.  Unfortunately the search ends there because Tamiya will not release the individual parts to construct it ones self.

The devil is in the detail, as you know, as the beauty of the thing is the hundreds of parts needed to make the wheels go around.  Their top of the range trailer is now over £500 and when you look at what's involved , you can soon see why.

Your purchase has spurred me on to think about another truck to share the pulling of my three trailers. They look a bit lonely sitting by themselves on the shelf.  8)

I know the trader from referring to his site often. Yes, it's a splendid trailer and quite detailed, but somehow, not quite Tamiya.  The wheel designs are smaller and different, that's why I thought it might be better to scratch build the metal parts and fit them on the correct wheels.

Mind you, it does also have the advantage of being in the European union with no extra taxes to pay. The other Carson trailers really do exceed my price barrier and seem a licence to print money for what you get.     %)

Hi guys... Just a bit of info. regards to the Goldhofer low-loader - The wheels on these things are designed to be smaller, but duals on each axle for better load distribution (Well - on the real thing atleast). Another way to get a low loader, is to search for a Bruder Low loader (a plastic toy in effect) and convert it yourself, I am half way through extending one at the minute.

 I can vouch for Carson trailers, I have owned carson gear, and seen many in action, they are superb, and although very pricey, they are worth every penny in my honest opinion. They are constructed out of Alum. mostly, all machined and ready to assemble.

The tipper's are particularly impressive, when in operation.  :}

A great place, with good prices is - mbs... https://www.mbs-modellbaushop.com/modellbau/rc-trucks-u2/ i order here quite regular, the shipping is super, and rather quick too.

Hope this helps  :-)

Fascinating new hobby.

In the warm for the winter.     :} :}    It looks like I've got a lot to learn after seeing the other trucks on display.  Some of these can cost over 4000  Quid.  :o

Nice road-train Kenny  :-))

 I love going to the shows, it gives you a real insight (just like the boats) into what you can do with these models.

If your interested - Our club are displaying a full road layout at Harrogate model Engineering show next year - your more than welcome to bring your trucks/trailers along and have a run round the layout with us. Anyone else is more than welcome to do the same - I know some of you will no doubt be displaying at the show so pop over and say Hi  :}
