The Aziz would be quite heavy and look out of place in the scale department, as the differences are quite large.

I'll take a picture of one of my boats which sits on a low loader on the shelf to give you an idea.

Sorry for the delay.  I missed your question above.

The trailer that I've shown was scratch built to no particular size but I see no reason one could not be built to a matching length for a boat, as long as it didn't look out of place.

cheers

i am now onto my next scratch build truck and have decided to make a Fire Engine.  There are a few models around and the flashing lights seem to appeal to folk.   %)

I made arrangements and got security passes to go and photograph one at my local station.  It was very interesting and I spent a long time filming and measuring it.  Mind you, it took three visits to actually get one still sitting on the tarmac long enough to examine.   :}

The model will be based on a Scania 470 truck and I am now waiting for the riots to cease in Japan before they can post it to me.   To this end, I have been working on the plans and sizes for the rear section and have started on the roller shutter doors.  Not much to show for it at the moment but I will update the blog as we go along.

Here's the actual truck and you can see I'll have my work cut out with all those extra attachments and ladders.  Should keep me occupied during the winter months eh !!

Hello
There is a children toy manufacture called Bruder . They do a professional series were there are diggers and trucks etc. Not sure on the scale but they are big and not to far Tamiya scale. While they are kids toys they could be a good point to start detailing from.

Thanks for the  'heads up'  John.  There are several ranges of model but my picture above shows the version I wish to achieve. The bruder scale is 1:16 and not so detailed so I've opted for the Tamiya version as a base frame to build it on.

The only thing that shows and has any bearing on scale scratch work is the wheelbase and cabin height.  For example, when converting the photos I've taken, I've had to re-size them to match the wheel heights of the Tamiya and even then their distance apart is wrong.

  According to the enlarged drawings I've got to build a longer chassis and the height of the cabin will also be wrong  (out of the box)  and will have also be altered.  The whole thing will be a massive undertaking to get right. I spent a day getting the photos the exact size of the model so that it would be easier to take a ruler to the picture for some of the finer details.

Interesting.   :-)   I have not seen these before.  I'll bet the American shipping is a nightmare.

Thanks for showing us.

No problem, the seller is in Hong Kong, and the first postage is reasonable.  I have used him on several occasions

The parts have arrived and I've been busy joining the bits together.

There is a lot of scratch building involved with this one.  I had two cabins which had to be cut and joined together.  Here's where I am at the moment.

Hiya greyone,

In a word....no,  but thanks for the idea.   I scratch built the ladders out of aluminium which took a fair while.  I'll post up some piccies later.  I'm in the middle of the build at the moment and it's not tidy enough to look at.   :}

Cheers
