I then made the top section from plastic sheet.  (just like building a boat ?)
and this was hinged to the chassis.

The painting has been left until more clement weather.   %)   besides,  it's cold out there in the shed.

Could one of you nice Truck-type chappies possibly help me out with something please?

I've seen a couple of the Truck Cab-detail sprues for sale, and would  like to make use of the seats, steering wheel and dash in a (dare I say)....     ....Boat!

I realise that they are 1:14 scale, but could someone provide me (all of us?) with some reasonably accurate dimensions for reference...

I've added a piccy of the Scania sprue, but I know that there some others appear, and I guess that they will all be similar(ish), wont they?

Cheers,

Andy

Not to worry.  I've just been out and measured mine. (if you'll pardon the expression)

The steering wheel is 34mm  Diameter
The seat is 31mm wide  by 38mm deep  by 61 .5 high
the dashboard is 175mm long  by  12.5mm thick on passenger side. It rises for he steering wheel section.

No problem as we like to help you Boaty types.     {-)

You've reminded me to put up some more on my build.

She's nearly finished now and Here's the latest pictures.  I have made a YouTube film of the build and it's here.

Most models I have seen with log loads have used real wood

Ah !!   %)

If you just want logs for a lorry load then Essex's suggestion is the way the guys go.

I thought you might have been after imitation trees with branches for a 'still life' model.

Cheers

If you do fo for the real wood look... take your time to find ones that look right.  It might take longer but its well worth it in the end

For the imitation logs - Go to a pet store ... The little bridges they use for Rabbit runs/Hamster set ups etc are roughly the right size  :-))

Today I took my truck to a meeting of club members. Wow is all I can say. What splendid build jobs were done. It's quite easy to get rid of a load of money if you want the best there is. Put mine to shame, that's for sure.

Here she is waiting to get on the track.   :}

As I'm in between boats I have resprayed my tipper truck and also started building a new truck. We'll start with another trailer that I've built to add to the fleet.

This latest truck is the newest one from the Tamiya stables and is called the Mercedes Actros. I have altered it beyond recognition by fitting a longer chassis and 12 wheels with double steering. I am building a copy of the local large haulage firms tow truck and this is where I'm at.

Still a bit of work to do but we are almost there. I have to get it ready for the Thornbury model show in August as I'm in the local club.

Cheers.

That's in the pipeline. The more you look into it, the more there is to fit on. The original truck is around £500,00.   %)

some great looking trucks :-) ive got an Aeromax that still needs building and have been gathering parts to make a "Low Car" from a king hauler with a stretched chassis. But at the time the only person doing chassis rails was stateside and would have cost a small fortune to get them to the UK unsure if theres guys in the UK doing them now.
I also have a F350 with full lights and sound with a 15mm body lift which looks great  :D

I've been steadily adding to the Walls truck and now have the rear of the crane built up. The lights are wired up and she motors around nicely.

@ A71.  You can get the rails from either B7Q or Wicks if you fancy marking out and cutting.  much cheaper.

@ Greyone.  It's certainly addictive. I'm now in several Tamiya clubs. We are off to a show next weekend for the Bristol modellers society. It's on the web.
