Newbie Saying Hello and help needed to ID Boat! :)
« on: October 30, 2012, 04:47:19 pm »

Hello Everyone,

I'm a complete newb to r/c boats, Although i've been drowning cars for alot of years.  :-)

I've recently purchased my first wooden boat and would like any information on it.

Its 34 inches long and thats where my knowledge ends.

It had an old faded sticker on it which is also shown ( may or may not be any help )

Thank you in advance for any info.

It is probably a paper lifeboat held on to th wearer by a pin after putting a coin in the lifeboat collecting tin on lifeboat day.
Defo in the days before stickers

I've spent alot of  hours viewing a huge  amount of  pictures on the web trying to find this boat (however that did lead me here) without any luck and youve hit the nail on the head.

Again Thank you.

I was already planning a red/white scheme for her and then found this original box picture online.

I will start a resto thread once i've gathered all the bits.

Thanks again for the info.

hi all
need some more help please  :embarrassed:
what brushed motor would be ok for this boat? it doesnt have to be super fast, ive been looking at graupner motors, would a 600 be ok?
i intend to use a 7.2v for ease (have lots from cars) or could go to 8.4v if needed.
Sorry for the dumb question but i dont understand boat motors at all.
Thanks S.F

I would say a speed 600 if you want to go the brushed route
This one would probably work well with the right prop
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/graupner-1793.html

Or you could go for a brushless outrunner.... But that would probably most likely call for new batteries (6-800 Kv outrunners on 6 cell lipos or 12-1500Kv on 3 cell seems to be the norm for 36" huntsmans)

My huntsman runs a 6 cell lipo and 800Kv outrunner and before i tuned the Speed controller would put the hull almost vertical in the water lol

thanks for your reply.

that 600 was the one i was looking at, when you say 'with the right prop..........'

the prop i have fitted at the moment is a 2 blade plastic 34mm, is that any good with a 600?

sorry i dont understand prop to motor sizes

Thanks Again S.F
