Kit advice
« on: November 04, 2012, 01:09:15 pm »

Hi
Having retired a couple of years ago I decided to start making boat modelling a hobby, the last time I made any models was in the mid 60s. Looking round the web and different forums I decided on Robbe Paula III as a first build which is just about complete. Being a tug fan I am now looking for a tug kit. I would prefer it to be a steam outline model rather than the modern tugs. Being a beginner I would like to ask for advice as I don’t want to buy something only to find it’s to advanced. I would like something about 30 inch long.

Model Slipway do a number of tugs that are ideal for the beginner.

How about a Caldercraft Joffre? Nice old steam tug design, and about 29" long.

A Deans Marine Furie?  Already started but you may save a few bob with a successful bid.  Seems to fit your requirements - early steam tug, just under 30inches.  And motor and coupling included too.
