Hello from New Zealand
« on: November 19, 2012, 08:45:58 am »

Hello all. Thank you for allowing me to join the forum. From what I have seen so far, it is a large wealth of knowledge and very handy tips, and ideas.
I have attached a couple of pictures, of my tug, which I built when I was 20ish. Approx 1/35 scale, loosely based on the Smit Nederland. I got the free plan with the 1988 Scale Model Boats magazine, and enlarged it via a photocopier, until I was happy with the size.
The hull is planked, with Fibreglass on the outside. Very solid, and alot of fun, to operate. All the fittings are handmade, apart from a few store bought ones.
Thanks for looking.

Just a general tidy up on her, Fit some lighting, new props and nozzles.
The stuff available now, for model boats, is astounding. Compared to when she was built... The net has come along way..
I do like the hull shape, so I might tinker at using it again. Lengthen it, and new upperworks. We will see..

Hi Boman and welcome to another Kiwi!

Pretty soon we are going to be as common as our cousins from across the ditch...

Whereabouts in NZ are you? Wattle Downs in Auckland for me.

Apropo of nothing really, but I read in todays newspaper that one young (English) lady has been prosecuted for calling a New Zealand "ladY" an Australian. The grounds were "hard feelings and insults".
So I fear that we must all be on our guard when we call our Antipodean acquaintances "nice people"....or something. BY.
