She rides well bassplayer  O0 , just a question.........

1. have you any removable ballast in these sea trials?
2. the motors from an earlier image appear an inexpensive type with resultant whine  {:-{
3. have you considered a medium speed diesel engine sound card/amplifier/speaker?

Keep us posted with more images :-)) ....... Derek

Thanks Derek
No ballast at all in these trials, just a big battery from one of my subs! The motors are the old good Mabuchi 540 and they were laying in the workshop for more than 25 years so I thought I'll make a good use of them! They're up to the job just fine as you can see in the video and I really don't mind about the whining! No thoughts at the moment about a sound module although it did cross my mind!!! Maybe in the other ferry, we'll see !!!

Fantastic work  :o  can smell the diesel from here, don't forget a drink vending machine in the corner of the passenger deck, they all seem to have one of those!

Hello
I think your build is great. You have done some nice detailing work . It is nice to see another RC ferry being built. will you be getting the front ramp to work?

Yannis this takes me back a few years. I remember waiting on the quayside in Pireaus to board one for the crossing to Aegina, I think it was about 1987!! I remember being sea sick on it - yep I put it down to being awake for 20 hours before sailing, that, no food and empty stomach and 7 oclock in the morning. I went to use the toilet, one of those holes that you stand over that were popular at the time {-) the smell coming from it had me throwing up :embarrassed:

More details and rails and also I tried to make one of the benches that occupy the decks of such vessels. Not pleased with it at all, I have to find another way of making them. Any suggestions are very wellcome!

It looks as though you have used thin strips of styrene sheet, it never works like that, it develops a curve along the cut edge from the knife. What about using the ubiquitous coffee stirrers? They are easy to sand so you could sand along the length to aquire the right width, then lay them together on double side tape and sand to the required thickness. They can also be stained to look like what they are - wood.
