RNLI Fundraiser
« on: December 01, 2012, 11:27:32 pm »

 Hi
I dont know where to post this but I am sure a moderator will put it in its right place. I raise funds for the RNLI,mainly by showing my Lifeboat models all over Cornwall and Devon mainly, but I also travel much further afield.I am proud to have "done" 32 shows this year, such as rallys, and Lifeboat days.Anyway,at this time of year I have always for the last 15 years, put up a Christmas Lights display, with a collection box for the RNLI.Today was my big switch on,and was attended by about 60 people. The photo shows my wife and myself,in front of my lights display, you can only see about 2/3rds of them!
Hope you enjoy a little bit of Christmas cheer!

It would be nice if the world had more Micks in it,what a terrific idea & it must be a lot of work. Being the nice guy you are Mick I am sure you did not deny your good wife her fair share of the labour in putting everything up. Here in Calgary there is a competition for the best lit house & as you can imagine it goes right over the top. Mick B.

I must thank Tim Stevens, the Photographer for the Sennen Cove Lifeboat, for taking, and allowing me to use the photos.
Ok its getting dark,so my wife and I will have to go out to the shed and get on my tandem which is rigged up to a dynamo to supply the vast quantity of electricity needed to power the lights! thank goodness for LEDs!

My Christmas Lights display for this year has now ended.I have just totted up the total amount of donations received, and I am pleased to say they amount to £183.51. This is not bad when you consider I live in a small village, away from the main road and at the end of a cul de sac! I would like to thank all who made a donation, friends, neighbours and those who came specially to see the lights.I also display my model Lifeboats throughout the year,at places as far apart as Brighton,Warwick and Blackpool,as well as Shows and rallys throughout Cornwall and Devon.
I am proud to have collected the sum of £2771.12 over the last year for the R.N.L.I.
This does not include any donations at either Warwick or Blackpool as they go into the Lifeboat Enthusiasts donations.I have attended 32 displays last year.
My first this year is on R.N.L.I. SOS DAY,and thanks once again to Asda Penryn I will have my models on display.
Thanks for your patience in me rabbitting on
Sincerely,
Mick F

Yes Mick well done.
I know RNLI are grateful for what people contribute but it's easy to put a hand in a pocket - not so easy to set up an event and follow it through whatever the weather. Well done to you and all the fundraisers big and small.
