Hi there.
« on: February 22, 2013, 10:45:51 pm »

Hi, my name is Si and I have just started to do some at something different, always wanted to do a sunken U-Boat model. First one I got was a 1:350 scale, no chance of doing it...couldn't even see the thing  :} So, on a budget I went for a 1:125 scale Revell U-99 kit, a cheaper option if I didn't like it, or more to the point, made a total mess of it  :-)
So, that's about it for now, will post some piccies of my first sunken sub in the submarine section.
Si:)

Here are a few pics of the dioramas that I made, used various materials and epoxy for the water...chuffing hard stuff to work with.

The last pic is two wooden chopping boards, hand carved, even the wall is hand carved-it is supposed to look muddy. All these models have now been sold, not made anything for ages until I thought of getting into submarines.

Nice effects of your dioramas,my friend use to do these and at the time when we were both posties(proper ones that actually posted mail)he said to me what would i use in doing different scenery and i suggested the cavity wall/insulation boards they use in between the walls of a house when heated from a hair dryer makes variuos affects eg: rivers, hills mounds, but apart from that welcome to the madhouse you dont have to be mad but it helps.Good luck with  your submarine issues.baloo

Thanks for that, just showcasing what I have done before, well past 2 years. Before then I did nothing for about 10 years, before that it was planes, racing cars. After the dioramas I have started getting into subs. Not the best at modelling, even more so now with my disability but I have fun, and that is all that matters :-)
