Hi Folks........another newbie
« on: June 19, 2013, 12:20:18 am »

Hi folks.
I'm Steve and live in Derby. I am new to model boats and R/C typecontrol systems. I have for many years (35+) been a railway modeller (OO). the reason I have had a switch over to model boats is due to a couple of models coming in my direction a few years ago when I family friend past away. They have been in the garage for the past 5 years gathering dust until a change in job location presented me with a perfect place to sail them.

The boats are a MTB that was already built, but needed attention to the electrics, and a Caldercraft Clyde Puffer that was still a kit, but with some missing white metal castings.
The MTB has successfully returned to the water. I can post pictures later if anyone is interested.

I have now started work building the puffer. I have fabricated some of the missing castings from plasticard and stripwood, but have now reached the hull painting stage. Anyone know what shade/paint to use for the Salmon colour please. A Gooogle search only threw up a funny shade of pink available on ebay from somewhere in China!!!

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve,  Welcome to the Mayhem!

So you are a fairly unique modeller, an active gun boat captain and a a cranky Skipper of a Highland Puffer,  what do you do on bank holidays?!

Re: hull painting, I think most people go for Red Oxide primer car spray.
pink may look a bit washed out....
