Hull decks
« on: June 19, 2013, 09:20:25 am »

As this build of HMS Tiger is my first foray into using a commercial fibre glass hull rather than total scratch built, I have a question, is it the done thing to fit the deck, inside the hull on the runners and cross pieces or fit it on the top, or is there no preferred way.

I would always do it inside the deck :-))
the hull then protects the deck edging

It depends on what boat you are building. For a warship like yours then, yes, it is neater to fit the deck inside the hull. However for cabin cruisers, patrol bots etc that have a rubbing strake it is much easier to fit the deck on top and sand to match the hull shape then the strake covers the join.
