Just another Newbie
« on: July 10, 2013, 04:25:23 am »

Hi All,

While not new to model building, I have decided to move into the world of R/C and am looking forward to getting my feet wet.

Have been scratch building static models now for about 10 years. Enjoyed it so much at the beginning, that I decided to start a website (a previous hobby) to post a build log on of my first build. To make a long story real short, one thing led to another, I never did post a single picture of my first build and I ended up with a fairly busy website and monthly newsletter to boot which carries on today. :-)

I've always had a keen interest in Canadian Coast Guard ships and thought that as a first R/C build the CCGS Cape Rescue a 47' self righting motor lifeboat would make for an nice build. Below is the boat just returning to port (Goderich, Ontario, Canada) this past weekend.

While I've pretty much got my head around the build itself. The electronics required is a mystery to me at this point of the game so I have a lot of reading to do.

Anyone have any recommendations as to where to start reading? I know there's tons of info on this site, but its not of much use to me right now as I have no idea what to look for. Are there any how-to sites? preferred books? etc.

Thanks Mick B.  :-))

Been browsing through some of the posts. Looks like I have a lot to learn.

Hope you weren't unfortunate enough to have been involved in that flood out there. Quite a mess from what we've seen on the news. :((
