« on: July 28, 2013, 11:19:04 am »

Thanks a lot Martin, my wife just saw the photos that scroll through on the mayhem homepage and we need to know what the little tug called Pup is, commercial design, plans or freelance, apparently it sooooooooooo cute.

To all,
Well I'm the skipper and owner of this little tug boat. She has caused quite an interest everywhere she goes. I based her on a YTB (Yard Tug Boat) which I believe are used by the US Navy to assist their ships in the harbour areas. Not based at all on a real boat, but all from the Waverley kit and a bit of my imagination.
You will not meet a nicer helpful bloke than Mike Mayhew from Waverley Models. His shop (den) is an Aladdin's cave of modelling odds n sods and he has loadsa wee vac formed boats that make a change from the usual mainstream kits avail to us modellers. His wee prototype police boat he showed me was superb.
He has some interesting F/G hulls as well.
Last time I spoke to him he said he was having problems with his website so give him a call and he will sort you out.
The kit is vac formed with hull, deck, superstructure and clear plastic bridge. Its a 380 motor running on a 7.2v split battery which sits each side of the motor. The rest is up to you.

so would it be about 300mm or maybe less? also can anyone suggest a small brushless motor for it? maybe one of those quadcopter motors would do.

Hunter Systems also do a little Tug, PEANUT -  £35

http://shop.huntersystems.co.uk/peanuts-tug-kit---a-series-300-kittm-473-p.asp

1:24 th Scale Kit PEANUT TUG  is designed to bring the fun back into model boating, the Hull  and the deck and superstructure being made from Styrene.
The basic Kit comes as a vac-formed hull, deck and superstructure and a sheet of Styrene plus paper templates.
These mouldings are an excellent base for first time model boat builders, or the experienced modeller looking for a fun model to build.
Templates included will help you to make the 'Peanuts' boat or a River Tug or a Pilot Boat or a Life Boat with more templates to follow.
The Kit also allows the builder to design their own boat using the Hull and Deck as a base.

The Hull length is 300mm, the Hull width is 130mm
The overall length is 320mm, the overall width is 155mm

Now complete with the Running Gear Set and the Deck Fittings Kit all in one box.
