Yet Another Aussie Newbie
« on: July 31, 2013, 11:46:17 am »

Hello All,
Another Aussie here, just checking in.  I have never played with model boats before, and have very limited experience with all things modelling, but have finally got around to giving it a try.

My first build will be Robbe Neptun tug I just bought, so if anyone has any experience/tips with this model I would be very glad to hear from you.

I found my way here via the step by step build log of the Robbe Schnellboot, which I found to be absolutely hilarious, in a "I am taking notes" kinda way.

Cheers

Hi Llandorin

Welcome, good to see someone else from the ACT interested in building ship models.

Happy to help with any questions that you have.

If you are interested and want to talk to a few local modellers face to face there is a model show at the Malkara school this weekend. There will be a few guys sailing their model ships around on the indoor pool. It might be a great opportunity to get some advice from local modellers.

Neither, Frontline Hobbies had it for $200, roughly half price, with free shipping and the fittings kit thrown in.

Yeah, I am a bit of a regular at Malkara - been going for at least 20 years now.  I will be there, looking for advice.

Thanks everyone, seems like one heck of a forum around here!

Hi Arrty I mean it. When I decided to immigrate two of us tossed a coin between Australia & Canada & Canada came up. I have wished many times that it had been Australia, we have no national identity here because of the Elephant on our southern border. That & the long COLD winters get to you in the end. I adore the Seekers singing We Are One but we are many, I wish we had that kind of attitude here. Mick B.

G'day Mick,

Some trivia, when our pollies are trying to make a point regrading Oz and the rest of the world, they invariably refer to Canada as a the comparative example because of your population and size of country which equate similarly to OZ.
