Hi all,

I started on the railings.

I started at the bow first with that section of railing.   The only problems I have encountered were:-

a) some of the brass rod supplied for the railings varied in diameter also,

b) some of the stanchions supplied with the kit - the holes were not drilled through properly - I therefore had to drill through some of them with a 1.2 drill.     The rear railings, I had to assemble off the boat using a bit of plywood as a jig; and then I transferred them onto the boat.

hi all

Starting on the guns (aye the fun bit)

This is where you find you have nice black and white photographs in the instructions book that you can hardly make out.  The gun on the illustration on the box lid looks nothing like the one that is drawn in the plans.  So, its a bit of 'let's see what we can make'  ;D jobby.

not long now Dicky and you will have your model to build as well

Aye not long now John.
Why did you have to do the rear railings on a jig ?

..... the reason I used a plywood jig, is because there are two sharp 'right-angled bends' in the railing so, I marked off the plywood to represent the stern deck of the model.

I then marked onto that the spacings of the stanchions and this enabled me to solder the railings to the stanchions without melting the plastic of the hull - aye John

Well, just been testing, setting the sound modules up and these are the words of Mrs Bluebird...

The Diesel Sound Generator .... sounds like an old transister radio trying to be tuned in  ;D

The Fog horn unit... sounds like a duck with a screwdriver jammed up the 'you know what'

oh.........erm............

Perhaps the foghorn unit is fitted with an in-duck-tion coil?

Isn't the diesel sound generator used in Robbe's range of RC trucks?

Maybe you've activated the quack-tion control unit.....

I'll get me coat....

Didn't the originals use gas turbine power when at speed?

What is the Robbe sound generator from Robbes like John, is it any good.
Was thinking about buying a couple of JJC ones but Westbournes aren't taking any orders for them as he is so far behind with the ones already on order.
Have you gone for diesel or gas turbines for your PT boat ?
I know I want diesel for the Scheutze, not sure on the PT 15.

Hi Dicky,

The diesel sound unit and the foghorn modules were offered as an optional extra for this model according to Mrs and she just went along with what was suggested by Hobbies who supplied the kit.

As far as how good they are, to be honest with you, there is no way they will match JJ sound units for quality - bit disappointed in them to be honest.   If I had had the choice I would have gone for the JJ sound units, more expensive, but maybe more 'lifelike'.

Hi ya Dicky

Just basically finished the build, need to paint the guns and give her sea trials.   Ive put that on hold for the time being - Ive got to finished the project I stopped HMS Daring - because I have a monster planned for the next build.    Looking forward to seeing your pics soon Dicky,

John any chance of you putting a couple of photos of the innards, the photos in my instructions are cr*p.
As I have a different motor and prop shaft mine wont be quite the same but some bits will and as I havent got the position of the motor to govern where the other bits go I still have to use them but I dont want to distort the hull. Did your engine mounting bulkhead fit well or did you have to make it fit.
Anyway I have started. Trimmed the hull , drilled all the holes, soldered capacitors and cables, soldered on an oiling tube to the prop shaft, cut shaft to length and drunk numerous cups of tea, a good afternoons work.. ;D

;D Glad to hear you have started on your build there Dicky.       Ive got some news for ya, my motor bulk head didnt fit well, I had to pack it with scrap pieces of plywood at the sides.  Its position was governed by the motor gearbox propshaft supplied.  What I did was use the rear deck as a template to make sure I wasnt distorting the hull with the bulkhead.  There isnt much as regards the innnards - just ensure that you keep the rudder servo well into the side of the model, if you are going to put the battery tray in as per plan, because this sits between the rudder posts and is mounted over the prop shaft at the motor end.

Hope this is of some help, I will put some photos onlater if you let me know what you wish to see.
