Regular North London pool runs?
« on: June 14, 2007, 02:24:45 pm »

Okay, flying yet another kite.

Hands up those who would be interested in regular London/South east based pool runs in the spring and winter months (indoor venue in the winter), say five runs per year.

i.e.

First run in February
Second April
Third May
Fourth September
Fifth November

The summer months tend to be taken up with shows, which would mean taking a gamble on numbers showing up etc. plus outside pools are open to the public during these months making pool hire a no-no.

If I can get 20 names in the hat, the cost would work out at about £35 per person.

The pool runs would last for about three hours, which I think is long enough for most people, and should enable everyone to get a bit of decent sailing time in.

Likely venues would be Trent Park pool at Cockfosters and Furzefield Sports centre in Potters Bar. Both venues are easily accessed by car, being a stones throw from the M25 and public transport is not too bad either.

Hi,

The outdoor venue pool is about 90 x 30 feet and is about 6 feet deep.

The indoor pool is about 110 feet long (not sure about width, but I guesstimate about 35-40 feet) and about 10 feet deep. there is also a smaller pool at the indoor venue.

No one else interested?

I have about 10 people on my list, which isn't enough to cover the costs involved in pool hire.

Surely a few more of you would like to see something like this available?

Andy

£35 for 5 pool runs sounds like pretty good value  :)

The sub meets are planned for Trent park and Potters bar. Both within easy reach of the M25, and also served by public transport.

I haven't any pictures of the indoor pool at Potters Bar, but I can tell you it's a good size pool and won't disappoint.

The outdoor pool at Trent park is a little smaller, but still a nice location. Here are some piccies of the Trent park location:
