Complete Newbie - Please help!
« on: October 26, 2013, 11:56:19 pm »

Hi all,

Just joined the site as a complete newcomer to model boating. It's a hobby that I've been thinking about taking up for quite a few years now, but it's only now that I've decided to take the plunge!
I used to race RC cars, so have a heap of old radio gear in the garage and have now been looking at boat kits and think I have finally settled on the Cygnus Revenge Fast Fishing boat from Models by Design as the boat that I want to build, but having no previous experience of boating, I need to do some swotting up before I embark on a project......

Therefore, can anyone recommend a book / page that details the basic principles and fundamentals of making a model RC boat please? If it is already on this site, then apologies I have not stumbled across it yet.

Many thanks, Matt  :-)

Yes, it's probably on site somewhere. Grab a cup of tea and start reading.   :}

Apart from the forum, there is "main" Mayhem" section.  On the opening page, on the left hand side, click the "Technical stuff" marker.  http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/

Have a look at the Traplet.com website books section.

The books are not expensive, and looking at them you will have a better idea of the right starter books for you.
You can also find some of the books come up cheap on Amazon or fleabay secondhand.
