Are the tubes clear plastic ?

...if so, you could try inserting painted paper or maybe shiny plastic inside the tubes. That way, the outside of the tubes would give the impression of "glass" lenses. :-)

Ray.

Well today I made the builders plates .... all done on word and printed on paper.

Gave the lights some sort of shape ....

Looks ok to me ... the size is alright.

And more details to them ...

Finished the red and green lamps .... they are not as I wanted .... never mind .... I glued them to the mast.

No they are not OK. First: The lamp to the lower right should be white! Second: The size is not alright.
2-3mm less in height and 2-3mm more in diameter. Off I go to redo them!!!

I scrapped the red and green light today and made new ones out of a 8mm acryl rod I bought a few weeks ago.
First I made notes about the size ...

Milling down to 6.5mm on my lathe. Anything on a lathe or drill has to be made with a very low RPM or the acrylic rod will melt.....

Marking where the material should stay ...

Milling the contours and drilling a 3.5mm hole for a LED or microbulb.

With a small handsaw I cut away the finished position light.

And here is the finished positon light. A little bit of black color and its ready to be used on the boat.

New week still the same model to finish ....  {-)

Lenses got some color ....
The airbrush color from Schmicke can also used with a brush or soft tip pen.

Tamiya chrome color for the reflectors of the spotlights.

Position lights needed a black top...

And later black feet .... spotlights got their casings blackened.

Hi all,

I was just referred here by a chap answering my call on stabiliser arms and such. I'm going to do my first boat build soon. It's looking like the Nordkap, I am favoring the Smit Nederland Tug though.

I was asking where I might find the stabilisers online because I love the look of them. I'm not sure they would look good on a Tug. lol

But I think you have answered my question. Bravo.... great job.

Hi, What's the trick after you print them? do you simply put them where you want them and apply a coating?

Well today I made the builders plates .... all done on word and printed on paper.

The stabilizers are made of wood and are very sturdy as the hull is also made of wood.

I'm back again ... I needed a break from building the Loredana. I bought a Rock Crawler RC-Car to play with outside. I had to adapt a Jepp Wrangler bodywork to a chassis .... lots of fun I had.

Today I finished all electrics at the back. All 4 spotlights and the position light are ready for use.

I had to paint the gantry white even if it was white .... not all ABS profiles have the same white .... so I painted it today. I also glued all wires with paint to the gantry.

It's a good idea to paint white plastic, even white, as plastic can yellow over time. As i found to my cost.  <:(

Back at work!!!! Received my Jeep TJ Rubicon in 1/1 scale after Easter and had to play and drive it quite a lot!  :}

First I made space in my workplace. Couldn't move around anymore ....

Position lamp ready ....

Green and red lamp on the deck house glued in place ...

Wiring for the radar motors is ready ....

I really hope everything will work! I do not like making the electric part of the boats and I never try it out till everything is finished. I there is a fault in the wiring there is no chance to redo anything ....

Sadly I do not have pictures ... but I have the link where I bought them. Diameter is 6mm length is 30mm with axle I think ....
(sorry german webshop)

http://www.conrad.ch/ce/de/product/248782/Micro-Motor-G-700-G700-40-Umin-5?queryFromSuggest=true

And here the link for the datasheet as a PDF file...

http://www.produktinfo.conrad.com/datenblaetter/225000-249999/248782-da-01-de-MIKRO_GETRIEBEMOTOR_G700.pdf

These motors run very well at 1.5V for radars. If running faster they will get noisy and nasty in terms of sound ....

I am impressed at how clear you got your bench Danielle. They rarely stay that way for more than a few days I find. I look forward to seeing those radar units rotating. I am sure it will all work perfectly.
