Finally Sea Trials
« on: April 18, 2014, 03:08:45 pm »

After what seemed like ages which it was I got my Robbe U-47 in the water. Using Engel piston 825, Accurate Armor Conning Tower ( what a pain to hollow out) and Dream Arts Deck B/4 they stopped making them, also used the Bayonet Lock Ring. The Tech try was as dry as the Sahara Desert which made me happy

Only one issue when I start to fill Engel tank the Boat goes down stern first I think because the tank is filling from the rear should I add some floatation on the rear of boat?
Thanks everyone in the past for your help John

Is the boat stern down when the boat is fully under?

See photo when submerged there was no power . As you can tell from the video, she rides well on the surface, however when speed is added the stern goes desks awash

The centre of buoyancy on this boat is designed in, so you shouldn't need to add foam unless you've added additional buoyancy in the free flood area. This could be a C.G issue. The boat should balance at a point in line with the attack periscope with both the tank empty and filled. Bear in mind that small shift in the C.G will not necessarily make itself apparent on the surface but will become blindingly obvious once submerged.

Difficult with a large boat like this, but you should be able to get a decent idea by hanging the boat on sling at the boats C.G.
