The term chocolate fire guard (as in 'as much use as a ...') comes to mind.

I bought a large brill set from a old and established tool retailer in the uk .drill size from 1mm to 13mm and all half sizes in between .for wood metal and stone . Every one I have used has done just that . It was one of them deals that was too good to miss ,cost £18 just goes to show you get what you pay for .The only thing thy are good for is for formers for wire bending and making rings .

Gosh, when I saw that drill bit, the phrase 'Chinese amps' was the first thought I had. Wonder why?

It's got LH spirals as well... not much use for right handed holes :embarrassed: :} %)

I'm sure you can untwist it the right way Derek.

Keep happy.

I have several 1/8th drills, the oldest is a Pesto, a good British make, and still drills clean, accurate holes. The newest, bought last week as I couldn't find the Pesto, had 'Faithfull' written on it, now blunt and wandering all over the place after a couple of holes in some 1/4 x 1/2 BMS. The Pesto cost about £3.50, the other one 60p, cheap drills = false economy..... ;D ;D

Hold on!  >>:-( ...I thought this was a twisted engineering thread  O0

I also thought PESTO was some sort of Italian GREEN relish that some despots put on sandwiches  {-)

PRESTO (what's an R between friends ?  <*< )and DORMER were the mainstay of engineering workshops, it was usually operator 'error' that knackered their stuff, as Nick says "you get what you pay for".
