Just to introduce myself
« on: August 29, 2014, 01:49:56 pm »

Hi all
I am a 70 year old Newbie living in Gateshead - UK, whose last Radio controlled boat build was 35 years ago and i have decided to take the plunge again with a Model Slipways Al Khubar.   The electrics and Radio Control are not a   problem as I am hard wired that way. Its the general patching up of  the mount holes for the  running gear , shafts and bow thrusters which are causing me grief at the moment and more to the point the smooth external finish on the outside of the hull.
I hope as a member to be able to give and receive help when required
Regards

Welcome aboard and welcome back to the hobby - a lot of us tend to go for a car body filler, known as P38, for patching up the areas you mentioned.
It's an easy-sand filler although, for me anyway, the quantity of hardener to mix in took a bit of getting used to.

Hope to see some photo's of your builds in the future... :-))

Regards,

Ray.

Use P40.
Other fillers are porous.
Welcome Shotup :-)) :-))
