first build tips

so I have my plan

tools ( what I think I need  :-)  )

1.5mm ply

going to attempt my first build, a beginners pilot boat

meant to be in styrene but wanted to do it in ply

so tips from the experts, or more importantly what to avoid

I should imagine you have the use of every tool in the world.    ok2 ok2 ok2

I'll start the ball rolling by suggesting waterproof wood glue. I use the one in the Blue bottle. Do leave it to set overnight.  (it's guaranteed to pull off a layer of ply if try taking apart after!)   :}

keep us all posted with pictures and things and I'm sure you will get all the help you need.

good for you  :-)), I built mine from 1.5 mm ply as my first boat the best boat going for first timers I think <*<

if I can get close to that I will be over the moon

first build and going to take my time, in it purely for fun

I might even start a thread to show how bad it can be done  {-)

as I said, that was my first build took my time, and had nothing like mayhem as I had no computer to help when I did I,t so you should come on leap and bounds with help from us lets see worts and all . you have all this bad weather to come so no rushing cant stress enough measure twice cut once if in not sure check again

 :-)) We all have start somewhere, give it a go and you may find that you will surprise yourself,if you get into trouble there are a lot people on here to help just ask I do when I am stuck,post some photo's of the build this lot love their photo's,  Ray. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

My first  build too last year from the laser cut kit.Really enjoyed  it and sails a treat, perfect choice, good luck with your build.Bob.

not bought the press out kit, just planks of ply


jigsaw, hacksaw and hand tools is the plan, going to get the plan copied Monday for templates, so starting Monday  :-))

I'm slowly building the Traplet kit - very enjoyable!
Bending the plywood was 'interesting' - of course, I should have read up on this before I attempted it. No harm done, though.
