Just a quick question, would my 15 year old son be able to run his Seaport tug on the indoor pool on Sat,  he is very responsible and it could show newcomers to the hobby what can be achieved with a converted RTR boat. He and me ( dad ) have put in a new prop shaft, motor, water canon, lights, detailing, 6v gel cell battery and a simple respray to transform it's looks and performance. We are not members of any club but last year he built with me and demonstrated a small model railway ( Robbins Lane ) at Fleetwood Model Railway Show for the full two days and is mad on modelling of all types. He would be chuffed to bits if he could but of course we would understand if 'clubs' has the first shout at this. Thank you, regards, Dave.

Just like to say thanks to all the fellow mayhemmers who came over and said hello at the Blackpool Show,it was great to meet you all.I thoroughly enjoyed the show, there was a really good atmosphere, and many really good models.I was very surprised myself, to win the best model in its category for my Queen Mary Cunard liner,a wonderful bonus for travelling all that distance.
I note on another thread that there have been a few moans and groans, which I think is sad really. There were at least 20 traders there, and I only noticed one that was missing from previous years.
Despite what is being said about the same old models I disagree,my two had never been seen before, there was at least one Lifeboat on the enthusiasts stand on its maiden visit, and another one that won a best in category prize, and dozens of other models I had not seen before,in five years of attendance.
The organisers work damn hard to put on the show, and they were certainly the nicest of people and deserve more than the bad reports they are getting.
All I can say is, I hope I can see you all again next year, and thanks for a great show.

I have 3 pictures of my two sons boats on the indoor pool ( see my other post ) but nobody has replied to them. >:-o  Ah well, probably because they were just RTR converted boats and even though my two young sons and i had put a lot of hard work into them and could be botherd to sail them they aren't very interesting to fellow members. Next time  i must try harder and make a highly detailed model made to the nth degree with a nice layer of ( scale of course) dust on them but not actually bother to get them wet.     Regards, Dave,

Its a start  :-)), I find that generally comments are not made on pictures, however they have been looked at 91 times. The other problem is you put them on a new thread, where as most of the posts on the original posting which then pushes yours out of the way.

here here matey.......does anyone have a b***** idea as to the organisation that goes into a show like that, plus the thousands of miles that people including  traders go just to get there..........and then a slap in the teeth for people like  Martin and Dave ( Stavros) when comments like those are made.........as my old granddad said......"if you can do better then "xxxxx" off and show me"

I had experience of putting on a show two years running at the Marine Hall in the 1980's for model boaters...........and know what goes into organising one Read Model Boats 1986/1987 for the reviews of the shows.................so to those dissenters....either put up or shut up!!! <*< <*< <*< >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(

"so to those dissenters....either put up or shut up!!!"

Doesn't really contribute much to what had the beginnings of a sensible debate.

If I remember last year, it was the
smells from the urinals and the lighting
Were the downside.
As Ian has said, different people look for
different things at a show.
I for one am thankful we still have some
shows left to attend and this is mainly due
to the unpaid organisers in clubs up and down
the country.
Well done lads :-)) :-)) :-))lads

Paul

helps me vent my spleen on those who don't have a clue about the organisation that goes into such a show from any aspect.....

and it wasn't a sensible debate........more an assassination of those who have worked hard to put this show on, year after year..................if you want to complain about the show, at least have the courtesy to do it face to face at the show to those who do put their time in, or do it by pm to them............not on a public forum  where they can't defend themselves. >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(

and that, disgustedly is the last I am going to say on this subject. >:-o >:-o >:-o>>:-(

I thought it probably would have been a sensible debate, ok so that was an opinion, WoW I had an I had an opinion and it might have not been inline with other people's opinions...................
