Robbe Happy Hunter vs MS Aziz
« on: October 26, 2014, 08:18:56 pm »

Hello

My first post here on the forum, a forum thats very impressive.

Last year i got lucky and founded a NIB Happy Hunter and the fittings set in hobby shop in the Netherlands, this was the older 80s kit and not the newer 90s version.

Almost at the same time I bought a second handed Aziz that was untouched, My HH is finished and turned out very good as it was the first
scale boat project i finished.

Im somewhere in the middle to finish the Aziz and compared to the HH I think the Robbe kit is better overall quality except the buildings instructions that are more understandable in the Aziz kit.

Robbe has fittings made of plastic instead of metall and also a complete light setup is provided.

In the end I'm happy that I'm a owner to this two Tugs and really enjoying to build them, for a time now i have been watching on the Graupner harro koebke premium line and maybe I'm ending up with one when released.

Ps..maybe someone can explain the difference between this forum category and the R&D below this one, I don't understand what R&D is meaning ..

Cheers

Welcome to the forum. We like lots of pictures, so post away.

R&D is short for Research and Development, so that thread is where you post your questions or construction ideas as opposed to build threads in this section.

Thank you Brian.. :-)

Progress with mine "Fairytale Vanessa" former Aziz taking small steps forward, for the moment trying out ballasting and positioning the waterline, finally got everything electronic to here so the building can continuous, founded two older Graupner water canons that from the beginning was supplied with the seabex one i think, they gone work in conjunction with a car pump to windshield cleaning fluid on 12v.

Hello

The hull and detailing is now completed and work with superstructure begins, rough job already done and Now its time for the lights, detail, and painting, when i builded the Happy Hunter I used Car automotive paint in cans  but for the Aziz i went to a combination of Tamiya and Car paint, upper part of the hull is carpaint and everything below waterline is Tamiya, superstructure and every detail is Tamiya, for the bigger painting areas I airbrushed and smaller part with a small brush. Both HH and the Aziz are impressive boats when looking on the boats, scale 1:50 is so nice, not to big and definitely not to small.

slowly everything is coming together, soon will make the attempt to connect the lights, when this one is ready i gone start to build mine Condor 9 ferry but thats probable gone be the last boat I'm building, just takes to much time and I don't have the patience to do a building
over some years, also with all RTR boats that are coming if it gone be actual with a new boat I probable go for one of these and just modify
it if necessary.

Cheers

Hello

Finally I can call mine "Fairytale Vanessa" ready, well almost in my case since I always doing some minor adjustments along the way, anyway she's ready for sea trials, this has been a pleasant building and a new experience with the Model slipaway as a brand, comparing the
quality of the kits I would say that Robbe is a bit ahead since the fittings are more accurate, but of course they also costs and in Ms they are included, anyway in the FV turned out satisfied comparing to mine own skills, they look pretty nice positioned along together, took some pics, hope you don't get bored.. :}

They look great moored next to each other and illuminated like that just adds to the realism.

I see they both have crew members now, where did you buy those from? they seem to fit the scale perfectly.

Thanks Brian, the crew members are in scale 1:50 just like the boats and are from Graupner, last crew to the former Aziz i bought from
Cornwall model boat store, sometimes they are hard to find but occasionally the are to be finded on Ebay.
