Revell converted Wtc, where to buy?
« on: November 19, 2014, 10:12:47 am »

Hello

Im planning to convert a revell Type IX and want to buy a complete Wtc, I have tried to contact Dave Welsh at Subcomitte and also contacted sub driver but they seem not to want sell anything since they don't answer thru the forum or the mail.

So, if anyone knows where to get a wtc for the revell conversion please point me right.

Thanks
Jack

I'm not sure if Norbert Bruggen's Type V11 conversion kit is suitable for the Type 1X, Jack...pop over to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/133360626703083/, Andy (Subculture) will know.

Could possibly be adapted, but it wouldn't exactly be easy and not much if anything to be gained over adapting a small cylinder or perhaps growing your own.

AFAIK, no one has produced a conversion kit for that model, however it is basically a bigger Type VII, so the same principles apply.

Thanks, gone investigate more in the subject, kind of got inspired of earlier thread where a guy did the conversion by himself with a windshield washer pump.

Thanks

Have you got a small late or access to one- makes it much easier to fabricate the parts need for the inside of a submarine.

I was planning to invest in a Engel Type IX U 177 but cutting out all flood holes just scares me, more than try to do a conversion of a Revell.

I guess that is a downside of modelling u-boats. Etched metal or CNC milled decks make life much easier, but aren't available for all boats. An Engel Type IX is a substantial price too.

Yes, they don't come cheap, but if the wholes was cut out I wood consider it strongly, i have builded both the Robbe U 47 and the Wilhelm Bauer, both had the flood wholes cutted out from the factory, very time saving.
