Help Please with R/C - What Goes Where?
« on: December 18, 2014, 03:49:27 pm »

Hi Guys,

Coming to the end of building the Aero-Naut Bella (there's a build blog on the Yachts & Sail board), but as I'm "Home Alone" can you advise me (in very simple terms please) what plugs into where and which way round for the r/c.

I have a Planet T5 R/C but can't find the instruction booklet and I've found a bundle of what I think has been put to one side for me........ ;)

I've mounted on the bulkhead the Planet R6M 6g Micro 2.4 Ghz Receiver and have the following to plug into it.  Pins are marked B 1 to 6 and are in rows of 3

Red & Black into a connector from the 4 AA Battery Box (presumably B)
Yellow Red & Black into a connector from the sail control servo
Yellow Red & Black into a connector from the rudder control servo

This is my first R/C Yacht and I've not got a lot of experience when it comes to these "clever bits".

Any help very much appreciated  :-)

Eve

Of the three pin Black is negative, red positive, yellow signal, so the middle pin is positive. Usually the bottom pin, ie the opposite face to that with the numbers printed is negative.

The channels usually go left vert = 3, horz = 4 right vert = 2 horz = 1

If you look at the end of the rx they have printed a + or it could be the - to indicate which wire of your plug should go to it.

Does the Rudder servo work?
If so, swap the rudder and sail servo plugs over and see which one still works.

Hi Martin, they are both working fine but the sail servo buzzes all the time there is power to it.

Grateful for your help  :-)

Does it Buzz with or without the sheets attached to it.
It may be trying to go further than the sheets allow.
The channel you are using has a failsafe.
Try switching on the Transmitter and centering the stick.
Then switch on the receiver.
This should set it's limits.

Well, I've just slightly loosed the screw on the sail servo arm and it's stopped buzzing !!

How good is that  :-))  All working perfectly - thanks to you guys.

The screw needs to be tightened, not left slightly loose.
With wind in the sails there is a lot of tension on the
Sail arm.
Worst scene scenario is the screw pulling out and
Stripping the thread in the servo.
Hey Presto. New servo needed.

Ned, thanks for that and I understand what you are saying. I can assure you the screw is not slightly loose just me over tightening it in the first place.

Thanks though for your words of wisdom, much appreciated and I'm sure "his nibs" will double check on his return. Nice though that I'm one step ahead of him, all thanks to you guys. Ha  :} :D
