Hi royalcasa - thankyou for your interest. Have you started building your Midwest MLB kit yet? Would be great to see some more MLB photos on the forum:)
This was quite a popular kit i believe, also the Proboat version was very popular. I never understood why they stopped producing them.

Charlie

really a nice job sir.

I love this boats. I have a Midwest wood kit of the 47 I hope to build it soon

There was an ARTF model of this boat, made by Proboat, a few years ago. I just found this fantastic clip on youtoob, of one of these boats operating in the surf. I would like to try something similar with my boat when finished, but the waters off the Sussex coast aren't quite as appealing as in this clip %%

Charlie,
That really is some boat, not only the real vessel [my type of shape], but your model is just exquisite. Inspirational! Look forward to it appearing at a few Shows this way later in the year - even if still in build!!

Made a fair bit of progress this past couple of weeks. I have advanced the Hull and Wheelhouse builds to a sufficient state of completeness that i can now start painting.

Charlie....you are also making an excellent job of the brass tube work, supporting webs, brackets & gussetts   :-)) .....quality in squareness, straightness and uniformity can make or break a vessel.......

I have seen a roll of solder but no soldering gear.....are you using gas for the soldering?

I needed  8x Fairleads and 8x Bollards, but couldn't find anything suitable to purchase online, so decided to cast my own from White Metal. The Hull and Wheelhouse have now been given a coat of Aluminium paint. Here are a few photos.

Charlie,
Really looking good. You'll have to consider coming up and joining us on the LBES stand in November at the 'Warwick' show and bring your Solent class too! Does your 'good lady' cook large gateaux and cakes too? If so we might stand another chance of winning 'Best in Show'. Contact John Owen - he organises us. Here is a photo of the sort of thing I mean, spotted on a stand not far from us! Reminds me - the King Lear MBC are having a Lifeboat Day on 18th June, are you going or is it too far?

Hi Kim,
I did look at going to the King Lear event, but it would be a 320 mile round trip, and i'm not that keen on driving. Besides which my boss has told me i may need to go to Madrid for a couple of weeks to deliver some training, probably flying out on 18-June. That cake looks good though!

Underside has been sprayed with Satin Black. Deck fittings now attached. At this rate I may actually finish her this year :-)

I have finally completed the 2 Helmsmen's Seats for the Upper Steering position. These seats on the full size boat are made by a company called 'stidd', and I was able to get some detailed specs and photos from their website: http://stidd.com/products/standard-series-seats/[/size]

The 2 additional  jump seats have also been made. Also completed is the Raytheon Radar Scanner, plus some deck fittings. I have also started to apply the non-slip deck pads.

A few more jobs completed. The non-slip decking looks good. Had to make a new pair of rudders since the old ones had turned Banana shaped!
