Beginners Virginia 1819 building kit help
« on: January 26, 2015, 05:06:30 pm »

Hello all,

New to this forum and the world of boat building.

For Christmas my wife bought me the Virginia 1819 wooden build kit by Artesania Latina,

The instructions seem limited in this kit so I am looking for some advice on what glues, rubbing down kit and wood finishes you all think I should use, and any specialist tools I should invest in.

I look forward to the challenge of the build just need a few pointers before I start

Many thanks

David

I am confusing myself on the best filler to use for the hull, as a balsa wood that will be unpainted and only finished in acrylic clear satin varnish which I think is ok, so I saw this filler,  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Model-Balsa-Lightweight-Filler-Non-Shrink/dp/B004CQQIAY/ref=sr_1_2?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1422453473&sr=1-2&keywords=balsa+filler   is this ok or is there better options? Many thanks for any advise.
