springer bird two
« on: March 04, 2015, 02:31:42 am »

Okay guys, after a natter with the girlfriend I have decided to take the plunge and go for a springer.

Its been done before but I want a rescue springer for both my future fleet, and the club.

A few ideas come.to mind for me.

1) a winch controlled by a sail servo, with a magnetic float on the other end (several of my mates popped a small steel plate on the inside of there hulls for when I trialed this on the tug previous to my seaport)

2) the push horns (rams?) will have thin foam sheeting glued on them, for better grip and less damage to hulls.

3) a fire monitor is a possibility  :-))

4) purely aesthetically, spinning radar thingy

Any other suggestions at all guys :-)

There's always one !

I suppose the theory is, if you can't rescue a stranded boat then sink it
so it isn't a hazard to navigation !

Too right. Also don't forget salvage rights. If a certain Welsh person comes on he will suggest explosives!

1/16th turret sounds fun. I was toying with torpedoes but they are so expensive.

I love the search light idea  :-))
