Does anyone have a copy of the article on building the Gwen Eagle , or can tell me when and where the article was printed .Our club has the Model Shipwright magazines from 1976 to 2005 ., if it's in there .

Gwen Eagle was featured in 'Scale Model Ships' by Reeve and Thomas first published in 1951 and reprinted in 1959. Only general comments are made in the book as it is assumed that the builder will already have the Shipwright plan.
If you Google the book title and authors then you will find a number of copies offered on the second hand market.
I treasure my copy as it was given to me as a Form Prize by my school in 1962-63.

Gwen Eagle plans were available from the Bassett Lowke plans range many years ago, if that's any help,
and a very fine model built from the above was on display at the 2013 Warwick show,
please see photograph below. Paul

If you do a google image search on Gwen Eagle boat - you will find
some additional images on the following web site including some internal shots.

Thanks to ALL you guys .I have the plan and was interested in the build article . I have searched through here and got all references and comments on previous messages . Yes it is a great looking cruiser and I also have the plans for the " Daytona " motor cruiser which looks similar
Some of the older boats did have style !

PS Colin , I don't blame you for wanting to hold onto your copy .

Yes, the book doesn't have a specific build article as such, just general stuff about constructing cabin cruisers. Maybe something did appear in the magazine at some point. I do agree that Gwen Eagle has style though. It is a lovely design.

Hi' I'm a bit late to the party but life has been busy and I've not been here for a couple of years.
I think Colin will remember I have a model of the gwen eagle, which he helped me research way back in 2007.
I also have a set of full sized plans (39" long).
Has the OP actually built one?
