Could I please make a request? {:-{
As I will attending the get together alone would it be possible to team up with any of the clubs attending to take advantage of a table to place my model on and cover to hide from the blazing sun (live in hope) 8)

Hi guys - well we were blessed with dry weather again, cloudy and chilly in the morning but warm and sunny just after dinner. The number of models on display was down this year but we are in August holiday time and there was also lots happening in the area. I will post pictures over the next few days but here are some to start with. First three are from  the Mountfleet range, Ben Ain and the military version of the Clanity however lurking in the depths the dreaded U Boat looking for a target. At the moment the lake is very clear just right for subs to be on patrol. That's all for tonight been a long day.

This steam model was voted best steam craft on the day. It is totally scratch built and so is the steam plant. The rudder is very strange, it is like a kort nozzle for direction but for astern it closes to allow the model to go backwards. I am told is called a Kitchener rudder and it is very effective in both directions. The model is based on a American design.

A big thank you to Kirklees club for a great day and a fab welcome. Setting off from the NE the weather was horrid but as we approached Kirklees the sun came out.
Stan has asked me to give a little more information on my model. This is a model of a boat built by Rappahannock boat works in the USA  the timber hull uses cherry,mahogany and holly and employs the strip planking method (thin planks covered in fiberglass cloth inside and out and System 3 epoxy). The strange shape of the hull is said to aid power transfer and keep the hull flat in the water.
The steam plant and "Kitchen's Patent Reversing Rudder" are developed from ideas and designs by the ever helpful Malcolm Beak the engine has a 3/8th bore ½   stroke.
The boiler also homemade is heated using gas and water is taken from the lake via a filter.
If you are yet to visit Kirklees on a regatta day then all I can say is don’t miss the next one.
For more information on this model and many more please take a look at my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Modelsteamboats

Wow, there are almost as many different ways to steer a boat/ship as there are types of vessel! Thanks good sir for sharing your images and enlightening some of us:O)

Hi Guys some more pictures from Sunday. I hope you like our club rescue boat two tug power. Only joking one of our members wished to try out the towing capabilities of the model. Our steam tester was kept busy until mid afternoon testing various steam plants. More to follow.
