Maybe cars are not your forte? I mean many elements of this model are first class, so don't be too hard on yourself.

Hi all well after a lot of retouching and smoothing I've got the dash on the Shelby satisfactory, its not great but it will have to do, I've made some break pipes from the sevo and added the vacuum pipe (not sure where it fits on this car but its usually on the inlet manifold somewhere)

Hi all, well whilst doing some weathering on the engine bay I started to think all this work on the engine and engine bay and you wont see any of it when its finished so, I thought, what about an engine hoist and doing it with the engine being removed, now my question is would it be possible to remove the engine and gearbox complete or would I have to separate them (which would then mean making a flywheel and bell housing and the splined shaft for the gearbox, also what else would be removed to get the engine out, I assume the injection system?

Engine / gearbox would have been installed as one unit, and probably removed as one, unless only the clutch was being replaced.

exhaust would be the only thing apart from all of the pipework and electrics to the motor, everything else could stay.

Most likely the rad would be removed prior to engine removal to give more wiggle room

I would have removed the bonnet, landing panel (the panel that the bonnet catch is fitted onto), radiator and pipes, all electrical gear and at least the exhaust pipes, if not the manifolds......support the rear of gearbox and remove gearbox cross member or bracket, chain hoist onto top of block, usually proper eyes built onto the block for lifting, and take up slack on hoist.......remove engine bolts or brackets and lift it on out.
Tilt the motor and gearbox up at the front, dropping the back of the gearbox as low as possible and carefully forward until clear of the bay.....

The engine in a Mustang is usually taken out by raising the car and dropping the complete engine, tranny and ancillaries out the bottom of the car. Some guys have removed it out the top, but apparently it's a pain to do

Hi all, here is the last update for a long time on this one

really not happy with this so I think I'm going to box it up and shelve it for a while, before I throw it at the wall, cant put my finger on whats turning me off it, I think its just the fact that nothing on it is really up to a standard I'm happy with, the paint job is not shiney enough the engine is really not one of my better weathering efforts (certainly not up to the bike standards) the door shuts lets face it are laughable and I've found out the doors open inside the wings not as I have them, it just all adds up to a piece of rubbish (yes it can all be rectified (fairly easily)) but the shine has gone off it for me and if I force myself to finish it I can see it taking a flying lesson.

So, does that mean it's now going to be known as a Ford Shelvie. {-) {-) {-)

Sorry mate, I know how irritating it can be, just thought I'd drop a little humour in <*< to lighten the load a bit :P .

Hope you can reapply yourself to this one sometime..... :-))

Regards,

Ray.

I bought a Revell 1/12th Ford Shelby GT 500 after seeing a glowing report about the kit on Mayhem. I paid about £28 for it including postage and was well pleased, it certainly is a lot of kit for the money. I bought the paint from Revell for less than £20 and a rattle can from Halfords for the body for £6.50.
I built the car in exactly the way described in the instructions and everything fitted together perfectly, and I hope the photos of the finished model will give any potential builders something to aim for.
I've no connection whatsoever with Revell, just a satisfied customer.

hi all this is fighting me all the way, I bought some barrier coat and sprayed it with that then gave it a coat of gloss white and its reacted with the barrier coat, you cant really see from the pics but there are little wrinkles in the paint so Im hoping sanding back where the wrinkles are down to bare plastic and re spraying will solve it.

Hi all well since the citroen is now probably bin fodder I thought I better get on with this (plus christmas is round the corner) (actually I think I ought to give up modelling, I'm obviously crap at it)
I know the canvas bit looks as though it dosn't fit but when taped in it all fits
makes no difference anyway I'm getting fed up of always ruining models.

No you are not ken. We all have good days and bad days, and you have demonstarted some outstanding finishing effects espacially in the gold leaf field which would put many off as being an advanced art, so dust your confidence off and keep at it.

If you were crap you would not get the comments and views your projects have.

I am waving the Ken flag for good reason. I will pop over and see what irks you about your Citroen.

By the way, your daughter is a credit to you, a beautiful woman.

Hi all well I wont be giving this to my daughter. I will be glueing it together to finish it but after the third stripping and respray (must be something in the grey primer (its the only thing I cant get off (Ive used oven cleaner, break fluid, nitromors)))

The missus says dont be such a perfectionist she wont notice, you all know what I say to that.

Classic case of far to much paint on the model to be perfectly honest with you...one cure Rub it all down with 180 grit wet....down to the plastic and then dry it off .......Apply a couple of.LIGHT coats of filler primer ..guid coat with matt black rub this down till there is no more left 400 DRY  primer as normal guide coat with black again 600 Grit DRY and simply top coat with the gloss.

Make sure that ALL the Primer guide coat and top coat are ALL the same MAKE

Appologies for being blunt but hey ho
