« on: September 18, 2015, 03:41:29 pm »

Hi everyone I read a post on how to plank a hull and has anyone got a spare plan that I can work off it doesn't matter what scale as its just to get used to making a hull then I will go onto a kit I prefer static models instead of sailing them

The Galway Hooker in another thread might be a nice practice hull for you.

The Black Pearl was built over the top of a motor sailing ship, the Sunset.
The lines of the overbuild show the "Black Pearl" over the Sunset lines.

Best guess by most is that the Black Pearl was a derivation of one of the East Indiaman ships.

I found the profile of the Black Pearl/Sunset on an entertainment website, IGN.com
...2006, ... http://www.ign.com/articles/2006/07/11/pirates-2-welcome-aboard-the-black-pearl
I also found a profile for the Flying Dutchman, from the movie, on IGN also.

Due to the movie magic of creation, best guess is that the Black Pearl is about 150 feet long.

The East Indiaman ships varied between 130 - 171 feet long.
The French galleon Couronne, was 171 feet long with a 47 foot beam.

Divide any of the "by foot" dimensions by 4(feet) to get a model length in inches in 1/48 scale.
