The Coalville model boat show will be held at the
Hermitage leisure centre on the
9/10 April 2016

Things are really taking off with 4 clubs already showing interest and around 20 different traders who I have spoken to today have asked for booking forms.

So looking good so far.

Oh there WILL BE a rolling list of traders as soon as they book in.........

I AM SO SAD TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES WELL BEYOND my personal CONTROL.

This is not my fault at all so please DO NOT blame me.

I will be sending out an email to all clubs and traders confirming this.......

No - it's not a premature April Fool joke. The show will now go ahead, jointly organised by Dave Jones (Stavros) and Component-Shop. Dates are the same as have already been advertised and it looks like there will be full support from the usual traders (and possibly a few new ones). Admission for adults will be £4.50; there are no details yet about discounts for children etc.
Iain Lewis has registered a website at coalvilleshow.co.uk which will be live in a few days' time.
Please don't ask me any questions - I'm just the messenger in this case.

I'm still going to miss the show

I will be at work for two solid weeks in Holland, so I'll be thinking of you all whilst I'm drinking that Dutch beer after a grooling 12 hour day!
My Dad is going with some members of my club though to show our faces, and to stock up with bits and pieces.

This press release has just been sent to Model Boats magazine to include in their next digital edition (the next hard-copy edition isn't in the shops until after the show):

"COALVILLE MODEL BOAT SHOW 2016

After some last-minute organisational changes this year’s show is now quite definitely ON again! Dates are Saturday & Sunday April 9/10; 10.00am – 4.00pm at the Hermitage Leisure Centre, Silver Street, Whitwick, Coalville LE67 5EU.
The show historically attracts many traders and clubs from all over the UK , so there should be plenty of models and goodies to interest everyone!
There is ample FREE parking on site and everything is easily accessed on ground floor level. The Centre has a good cafeteria, serving hot and cold food. Admission to the show will be £4.50/person/day (Under 16’s are Free of charge).
Further details will be posted on the website www.coalvilleshow.co.uk as they become known".

I will categorically NOT be manning a retail stand, Carl. If I'm bludgeoned into helping out then it will only be on the door.

The show is being plugged on the Model Boats website as well as on here but, as Dave says, there isn't time to get it into the print edition as is usually the case which is where a lot of people see it.

So it is important to promote the show by word of mouth within clubs etc. as we all want to keep our model boating shows 'afloat'.

Such good news that Stavros and Component Shop have saved this show.Chaps, it's around 25 miles each way for me but if it helps I can make myself available to help in setting up on Friday.Any other local(ish) volunteers willing to step forward if help is needed.
