Help - Just picked up 1950 Vosper RAF Crash Tender
« on: December 15, 2015, 12:47:03 pm »

Hi All,

Forgive me I really know nothing about model boats, so please bear with me.

I recently bought in a charity shop a boxed Vosper RAF Crash Tender from the 50's for £3.99 and I figured it looked collectable and thought it might help pay for some christmas presents for the kids.

Could anyone give me an idea of it's value and the best marketplace to sell it?

Here are a few pics for you. It even has the original paperwork and tissue paper :)

Any help with value and a good place to put it for sale would be appreciated - as I said I really have no idea about model boats at all  <:(

I'm afraid it's not very rare but it looks as if it not in bad condition.  They sell on fleabay for between 20 and 40 quid.

Yep, good bargain at £3.99 but even a mint one will only fetch £50 -60 on ebay.
Might be worth polishing up the prop, shafts & rudders with some Brasso.

You have got one of the better ones.
Most of the ones for sale have parts missing and the removable deck badly warped.
Does it still have the original mighty midget motor which had an "o" ring to drive the prop shafts.
On ebay they sell for between£10-00 to about £90-00 but as stated mostly the lower range.

Unfortunately the condition of the box will put off the real serious collectors, but as Martin has said the condition of the props and rudder will reduce the price further.
Does the motor run? It should take 4 x "D" Cell batteries or 6 volts.
