Voltage checkers
« on: February 09, 2016, 01:29:35 pm »

Does anyone know where to get ONBOARD ie. permanently in the circuit, battery voltage checkers for NiCad or NiMh 7.2 or 9.6V ?   I have Lipo checkers and 4.8v checkers but these are obviously not suitable for the batteries I am now using.

There's one or two here http://www.componentshop.co.uk/battery-testers/
I'd regard the minimum safe voltage for either type to be 1.1v/cell.

If you mean that you want to mount a meter so that you can look at it any time & see what the voltage is (it does not measure amps) then any voltage panel meter will do the job that covers dc 3-10+ volts, There are lots on ebay and thus is but one example & is less than £1 delivered with a choice of display colours.

If you want something that records the voltage for you to study later that is a whole different thing.

Having had a look at a few I would prefer this one at the same price:

The advantage of this is that it is two wire and thus does not need an independent power supply which the 3 wire ones do. The downside is that it will not measure below 4.5v but that does not appear to be a problem.

Thanks very much for your prompt replies.  I must confess that I hadn't given a thought to ebay and a simple voltmeter
